Comfort Food Cabaret @ Exhibition Space At The Joinery, Adelaide 24/2/2018

I’m going to cut to the chase – this show is fabulous.

Comfort Food Cabaret is a show where local Adelaide artist, Michelle Pearson, sings and cooks, and the audience gets to experience a three course tasting. Comfort Food Cabaret is inspired by Michelle following her passions and ultimately combining the two – of music and food.

The Joinery was a new venue for this show, but it felt welcoming. You feel like you are sitting down for a big family dinner with long lost relatives.
Michelle has such a lovely, and warm nature that shines through the show and instantly makes the audience relax and sit back. Her openness and willingness to show vulnerability through story-telling and songs demonstrate her passion for what she does and her authenticity.

Throughout the performance, Michelle recounts experiences through anecdotes, song and the story behind each dish we were to taste. The food on offer was delicious and perhaps even more appreciated knowing the story behind the dish, together with the use of fantastic local produce.

Having previously seen Michelle perform in other cabaret style shows around Adelaide, I knew that I would not be disappointed, and this show exceeded my expectations.
I left the show feeling satisfied food, but was left wanting for more when it came to Michelle’s singing. This show is definitely value for money and you will not leave disappointed.

We are so spoilt for choice during Fringe, and it is sometime hard to decide which show to attend. Comfort Food Cabaret stands out as a unique show, with a comforting sense of familiarity through song, story-telling and food.

Five Stars
