After the success of debut single My World, which saw them crack the US Top 40 Radio Charts and debut week of release at #2 behind Metallica! Three-piece Texan rockers Empty Trail have now released their next single and first for Golden Robot Records, Lost.

Lost is a bonafide arena rock smash, with its epic chorus and brooding verses building to something best experienced live but still designed to blow up your stereo. Frontman Rick Lambert describes the song as a search for a missing piece. It may seem like anger, but it’s really loss. The Grief for something you can’t find anymore. It’s a cathartic release that everyone can relate to.

Following on from the release of recent singles Without A Blush and Obsessed comes the tears-on-the-dancefloor slice Stay With Me – the third single from Hatchie’s acclaimed debut album, Keepsake, released in June this year.

On Stay With Me, Hatchie offers up Keepsake’s most utterly rhapsodic track, all incandescent synth and unstoppable rhythm. “At first I thought I could never put that on my album—it felt too dancey and pop, and I figured it could really shine on someone else’s record,” she says. “But then I realised: I’m the one dictating what my sound is; what I put on my album is up to me.”

Super Whatevr have shared a new single, better. The single marks the turning of a new page and the beginning of a different era for Super Whatevr. Following the release of their debut album Never Nothing, vocalist and guitarist Skyler McKee went into a deep period of reflection, research, and eventually an entire re-branding. better. is the start of what is to come from the band.

With seven studio releases already to her name, Catherine Traicos has been captivating and intriguing music fans and critics for over 10 years, drawing comparisons to the likes of PJ Harvey, Beth Orton and Gillian Welsh. Traicos’ raw and earthy songwriting can be equal parts haunting and hypnotic, but there is always a delicate and honest beauty that features throughout.

There is a genuine streak of optimism, strength and joy running through the 10 tracks, evident most notably in the lead single And I Ran and the love song In the Light. Catherine says of the single “And I Ran is fun, it’s joyful in a way that only comes after the struggle; pure, unadulterated but still very new and a little bit tender.”

Electronic masters Nadisko have today announced their iridescent new single Take Me Away, a track made to be spun in the summer (or to heat up the winter months!) out now. The group, consisting of Alex Hopkins and Blake Wood, have also released a stunning lyric video to accompany Take Me Away.

Offering a little insight into the inspiration behind the track, Hopkins says, “Take Me Away is an intimate, summery, poolside tune with a hypnotic guitar riff and dreamy soulful vocals. It is a new direction of what we are vibing musically, and in that, something we have only recently tapped into. It was inspired by equality and relationships. With the world being so busy and with so much division, we often struggle and forget to spend time with those closest to us. It was inspired by a very tough time for us in our lives and was used as a form of escapism. It comes back to the idea of a ‘perfect’ dream or idealism of what relationships should be like. It brought us back to the things that are important to us in life.”

For twelve months there has been a murmur through the music industry about a unique collaboration between Kate Ceberano, Steve Kilbey (The Church) and Sean Sennett (Hirst + Sennett). The trio have been working on an as yet unnamed album and are releasing their first single, Monument City Lights, 1973.

As epic as the title suggests, Monument City Lights, 1973 recalls Bowie’s Berlin years mixed with the mood of a David Lynch film. The song began life with Sennett and Kilbey writing together in a cramped beach side apartment. Ceberano added her songwriting gift and Monument City Lights, 1973 came to life.

“There was something dramatic and potent in this poem… a nostalgic reverie.” exults Ceberano. “The mood had to be the 70’s … it’s tight jeans, bad skin and kissing in dark places. An indelible tattoo on the psyche. I hope it reminds you of these things and more….”

Los Angeles-based beach goths The Growlers return to the world’s airwaves and highways with their new single, Natural Affair and their HUGE 2019 World Tour.

The Growlers’ new single Natural Affair, self-produced by singer Brooks Nielsen and guitarist Matt Taylor, continues the band’s exploration of the vibier, seedier side of new wave funk. Bursting with chorused guitars and syncopated percussion, the track was inspired during sessions for their new LP Natural Affair. “A lot of our songs were coming out on the darker, more sentimental side, so we decided to make something more upbeat,” says Taylor. “We all took a break, watched a documentary on Spandau Ballet, and wrote this riff that sounds a bit like ‘The Groove Line’ by Heatwave. More disco and energetic, just trying to keep it funky.” It’s the first track off Natural Affair.

Having spent the past year between Australia, Europe and America, Melbourne’s Kingswood have finally returned. Confident, eager and energetic, the stadium rockers are back to reclaim a rock-and-roll crown that’s rightfully theirs with thumping new single Say You Remember, a brand new music video and a national tour in October / November.

Dripping in bravado and tasteful falsettos, Say You Remember is pumped full to-the-brim with throbbing riffs and a devil-may-care attitude. Complete with a smooth cinematic film clip, dusted with hints of sepia-toned nostalgia, Alex from Kingswood says of the track:

“Say You Remember feels like a coming of age, a full circle revelation if you will, where all the energy and excitement of what defined us originally is smashing against years of song writing and musical reflection, rebellion and reformation. We feel like we’ve finally discovered the true identity of Kingswood since its inception some years ago”.

Melbourne-based producer Illstrtd has just unveiled his smooth and sultry number Real Love – featuring rising star Françoistunes.

Real Love sees hypnotic and melodious synths intertwine, as the soulful and endearing vocals of Françoistunes hover above fluidly. Light percussion and groove-laden bass gently lift the dynamic, working into its bouncy rhythms and unwavering beat, propping up the commanding and sharp cadences that dominate the verses. The track drops down again into its spacious and intricately textured production, before launching into the crescendo that is its mesmerising and infectious chorus.

Teeth, the explosive new single from 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS), was released by Interscope Records/EMI Music Australia. Produced by Andrew Watt and Louis Bell, the track ventures deeper into the dark sonic territory that 5SOS explored on their latest hit, Easier. Teeth features the legendary Tom Morello soloing on guitar throughout the track.

“’Teeth’ came about after a month or two long blur of writing and pushing ourselves to go a step further than ‘Youngblood,’” says lead vocalist Luke Hemmings. “It was a tumultuous time in my life and the lyrics in the song definitely reflect that. It speaks lyrically about a trying time in my current relationship. Musically it’s another step forward from ‘Easier’ and really embraces industrial sounds and rhythms. Collaborating with Ryan Tedder was incredible as was Andrew Watt, Ali Tamposi & Lou Bell. ‘Teeth’ captures the soul of 5 Seconds of Summer and I truly believe it is a unique song to us as a band and doesn’t sound like anything out at the moment. It’s my favorite song we’ve released ever and I can’t wait for people to hear it.”

Following on from blistering comeback single Telepathetic, and their sold out live return at London sweatbox Electrowerkz, Norway’s Sløtface share another new single entitled Stuff.

Of the track, vocalist Haley Shea says: “’Stuff’ is my attempt at an honest breakup song. It’s just about all the stuff that’s left over after a relationship, especially if you live with someone, that you might have memories associated with that suddenly become painful, and how that slowly fades until the pain is gone and the stuff is just stuff again. It’s also about how great those fresh starts can be, and how you find a way back to yourself, when it’s just yourself.”

Grammy-nominated recording artist, activist and entrepreneur, Pusha T, released his latest single Coming Home featuring Ms. Lauryn Hill and produced by Kanye West and Mike Dean. Released via G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam Recordings, the track touches on the struggle to achieve freedom. Listen Here.

Coinciding with the track’s release, Pusha T has announced he’s joined forces with Brittany K. Barnett’s Buried Alive Project and MiAngel Cody’s The Decarceration Collective to launch the ‘Third Strike Coming Home Campaign.’ The initiative aims to free people serving life in prison today under yesterday’s outdated 3 Strikes Drug Law. Specifically, Pusha T kicked off the campaign with a $25K donation and will support Barnett and Cody as they look to hire more lawyers to fight for more people who are buried alive under life sentences for federal drug crimes.

Australian songwriter and storyteller Carus Thompson proudly presents new single Avondale Heights to Sunshine with the announcement of his national album launch tour.

New single Avondale Heights to Sunshine sees Thompson delve even further into this narrative style, with the song telling the gritty story of a suburban Dad trying to escape the trappings of the suburb he was born into. Inspired by a taxi driver’s story about a bridge that was supposed to be built between the suburbs of Avondale Heights and Sunshine in Melbourne’s West, the single’s heavy Australian accent is complemented by the folk expertise of Seth Lakeman – who popped into the studio in between touring the world with Robert Plant.

In anticipation of their long-awaited debut album, State of Mind, current Rock Sound Magazine cover stars, The Faim have unveiled the official music video for lead single, Humans. The cinematic offering dives into the world of science fiction while also highlighting a visually stunning band performance. The video follows the four-piece as they’re taken captive by a government organisation and subjected to tests to determine if they are human or android. To escape, they’ll need the help of someone who’s more than human…

Sydney-based artist / songwriter / producer Jakob has announced his debut self-titled EP, set for release on November 15 out via Top Dog Recordings, powered by Believe. The first taste of his concept EP is Lie – a Latin-inspired alt-pop blend that draws from R&B, hip-hop and his South American roots.

Lie was penned in LA with Melanie Fontana (Justin Bieber, BTS, Chainsmokers), Lindgren (Halsey, BTS, Cheat Codes) and Shayon Daniels. Falling in the middle of the story, Lie is that familiar tale of woe where Jakob was completely infatuated with a friend who landed herself in the wrong relationship.

“The song Lie is written about a scenario I was in, where a person I cared for was in a toxic relationship with someone else,” says Jakob. “She would constantly ask me for advice, when in reality I wanted to say that she should be with me instead of telling her something she wants to hear. I hope you all enjoy what I believe is my best song yet!”

Ahead of the first show of his Heard it On The Radio tour tonight in his hometown of Adelaide, Luke Million draws us into his retro soaked world with the visual offering for his recent single. The visuals take us into a fleeting story of heartbreak and revenge at it’s coldest, enlisting the directorship of Matt Sav (Jack River, I Know Leopard, Pond) the video highlights the recent success of the brooding single.

“I really loved working with the aesthetic of Luke Millions world on this video. We re-worked a concept that came from Asta and Luke into the semi non linear narrative that we finished with. Asta has an amazing eye for styling and we really had a lot of fun on set especially making that car driving scene happen…picture director flashing a ‘street light’ past the window, producer ‘wafting’ air through the drivers seat, car wrangler ‘bumping’ the back of the car etc…movie magic!” – Matt Sav

Ahead of the imminent release of their second long player Rumour & Innuendo, WA favourites The Southern River Band have released the brand new single Do You Miss Me?

The third single to be lifted from the forthcoming album, Do You Miss Me? is a melodic and tender incarnation of a band usually known for their high octane take on guitar driven rock. The maturing song craft of lead vocalist Cal Kramer comes to the fore on Do You Miss Me? suggesting deeper waters to be explored as The Southern River Band continues to deliver new material for 2019.
