Jess Ribeiro’s third album LOVE HATE (released in April this year) was confirmation (if ever it was needed) that Ribeiro is one of this country’s most gifted and enigmatic songwriters, a master of genre, nonchalance, double-entendre, intuition and melody. It doesn’t come as a surprise then that she has also tried her hand at directing. Premiered via Pilerats – Jess has shared her nostalgic new video for Young Love ahead of her Australian tour this July.

Young Love – a standout sleeper on her new record – is noticeably different from Ribeiro’s previous work; “It’s an electronic journey I’ve not been down before” said Jess. Featuring a trip-hop groove and a more heavily processed electronic sound, it more than proves Ribeiro’s versatility. With the guitar swapped out for a Nord, and the beats spare and dramatic, it’s the synth soundtrack for a doomed romance movie.

Grammy nominated California rock heavyweights, blink-182, release a new track Happy Days from their highly anticipated new album via Columbia Records / Sony Music Australia. The song was featured as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1 on Apple Music.

Happy Days follows previously released tracks Generational Divide and Blame It On My Youth, which is currently top 10 at Alternative Radio in the US.

Since their humble beginnings in 1992 in San Diego, blink-182 have sold over fifty million albums worldwide and rocked audiences around the globe, becoming one of the defining and inspirational rock bands of their generation.

HELLYEAH will release their sixth studio album, Welcome Home on, Friday, September 27, via Eleven Seven Music.

The band have just released a new single & video for the track Oh My God.

Hard rock purveyors HELLYEAH celebrated the life of their Brother and Bandmate Vinnie Paul in May with an emotional sold-out concert in Las Vegas, where the band made their initial mark towards their Vinnie Paul campaign for the American Heart Association. The band will continue to honor their late bandmate by donating a portion of ticket sales from their upcoming tour in his memory, in hopes of raising over $10,000 for AHA.

As an issue that affects their fans and families every day, HELLYEAH are hoping to help save lives, and are changing their own in the process. Bassist Kyle Sanders says, “Everyone can make some kind of change for the better. It’s never too late.”

Korean-American artist NIve is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer with an endless mission to help his listeners slow down, express themselves, and find comfort and be liberated through his music. NIve (pronounced Neeve) has released his latest single Liberated, an inspiring track dedicated to empowering others through his own hardships.

Liberated is an uplifting anthem of hope and consolation for anyone who is struggling in life. The words he sings are what NIve wished he could have heard when he was going through his darkest moments. With Liberated, he is expressing that it’s okay not to be okay; there is a freedom that comes with acknowledging struggle. The song is NIve’s way of saying, “I’m here for you, everything will be alright.” With the release of Liberated, NIve influences that leaning on someone is not a sign of weakness, but rather a step towards growth and healing.

For the first time ever, after four decades buried deep in his vaults, a previously unreleased version of Time, recorded in 1986 by Freddie Mercury for the concept album of the hit musical of the same name, has finally emerged after two years of work by the globally successful musician, songwriter and producer Dave Clark, a long-time friend of Freddie’s, using the song’s full title, Time Waits For No One. The track is available now, along with a powerful and deeply moving new film video.

Time Waits For No One shows Freddie Mercury at his most compelling; a completely stripped-down performance, accompanied by just a piano, showcasing one of music’s most beloved and show-stopping voices.

Canadian rock heroes Silverstein – who will celebrate a mammoth 20 years together in 2020 – mark the latest outfit to sign to UNFD. Alongside the signing announcement comes a brand new single, Burn It Down which features none other than Beartooth’s Caleb Shomo.

“[‘Burn It Down’] picks up right where Dead Reflection left off,” explains Silverstein vocalist, Shane Told. “It has the catchiness and riffiness of that album, but production-wise and vocally we took another progressive step in a direction we feel great about. It hits hard and tells a story but gets you straight to the point. It’s not messing around – direct and in your face.

“Once the bridge section music was completed, we could imagine Caleb’s voice working so perfectly over it – so we sent it to him and said ‘do your thing’. He sent it back and I just about fell over when I heard it.”

Grammy-nominated and Gold-selling hard rock heavyweights Killswitch Engage have announced their eighth album Atonement, out August 16 on Sony Music Entertainment (World ex N. America) / Metal Blade Records (North America).

“Unleashed is about inner passion and rage coming up to the surface,” said singer Jesse Leach. “We all have that wild within that often stays dormant until a tragic event triggers and awakens it. This song is about that awakening within. I feel we were able to capture something raw and intense on this song and I’m stoked for everyone to hear it! The new album Atonement is a reflection of perseverance and passion through the trials and suffering of our existence.”

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have just shared Organ Farmer.
The final instalment of a 3 part series by director John Angus Stewart in which the band are surrounded by a loving and devoted cult ready to leave the experiment.

The new tracks are evidence that Infest the Rat’s Nest will take a distinctly different track to the band’s recently released album, Fishing For Fishies, which came out on Flightless in late April 2019. That album ended up at #1 on ARIA vinyl chart and #4 on the ARIA Albums Charts.

Having played a mammoth nine shows at SXSW to huge international buzz, Gold Coast artist San Mei today unveils her new single Something Good, her first release with Australian indie label etcetc (home to artist like PNAU, George Maple and more). Produced alongside Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Alex Lahey, Ali Barter, British India), Something Good is another step forward in the guitar heavy, delay-ridden, dreamy pop that is San Mei.

“I wrote Something Good when I had a sort of revelation about a situation in my life where I was fully taking things for granted and not recognising that I had something really special in front of me,” says San Mei, aka Emily Hamilton. “It’s about the beauty of hindsight and hoping that I’d woken up in time to rescue this thing and let it grow into something beautiful.”

Ed Sheeran has unveiled the official video for his new track Blow with Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars. The high-energy performance video was shot at The Viper Room in LA and has been directed by Bruno Mars.

With a wall of sound that Phil Spectre would be proud of (in between tantrums and drafting terrible contracts), The Barren Spinsters deliver raucous high energy in both their recordings and their live shows. The questionable facial hair sporting duo channel a Black Crows southern boogie type of Rock n Roll that’s taken a trip down to the local circus; it’s all about everyone having a good-time!

Their latest single Hey Ruth paves the way for their much-anticipated debut album, Ten Steps to Cynical Thinking. The track is a toe-tapping ear worm, lamenting the lack of good yum cha in the country.

“You know it’s time to move to the city (Canberra) when your only good cuisine options include day old chicken in a bain-marie. The song is about other things as well, but that stuff is boring so let’s talk about chicken instead.” Brendon Houlahan (vocals/guitar)

Swan is the brainchild of Matt Swan. A founding member of genuine worldwide rock phenomenon Royal Blood, “Swanny” is today announcing his debut release, an absolute hip-swinger of a single and video entitled Sweat Baby Sweat.

Swan says that “Sweat Baby Sweat is simply about letting the good times roll live life to the max – life is one big party. It was written after a long hot Summer’s night of no sleep in Byron Bay in 2018. I had just got home in the early hours of the morning after playing drums at one of Byron Bay’s crazy warehouse parties – I picked up the guitar, cracked another beer and the main riff quickly came to me. I then laid down some drums and Sweat Baby Sweat was born.”

“These warehouse parties are famous throughout Byron Bay’s rock scene, they are a wild, hedonistic, sweaty mix of rock ’n’ roll and creativity. When it came time to lock down my lyrics I was still on a high from my experience that night so I wanted write this song as a homage to it. That night was hot and sweaty, the dance floor was full of people sweating as we rocked out. There was this one beautiful woman that I couldn’t take my eyes off, we locked eyes and it was like we were in a trance. Sweat was rolling off her body, i loved the way she moved and I loved the way she just didn’t care… Sweat Baby Sweat!”

Snow Patrol debut their new song, Time Won’t Go Slowly. The band have announced that they have been in the studio over the last few months and are releasing a new track ahead of more music later this year, celebrating the 25th anniversary since Snow Patrol formed.

Over a twenty-five year career, Snow Patrol have carved out a unique place for themselves. Since their 1998 debut, Songs for Polarbears, the band have racked up an impressive number of critical and commercial accolades, including over 16 million global album sales, 1+ billion global track streams, 5 UK Platinum Albums, an Ivor Novello award and have been nominated for a Grammy and Mercury Music Prize.

Beck’s new Saw Lightning (Freestyle) video captures the GRAMMY-winning artist stripping his latest single down to its bare bones. Rendered in striking minimalist black and white, Saw Lightning (Freestyle) relies solely on the impact of raw talent and passion: a man, a harmonica, a camera and nothing more. Beck’s vocals, stomping feet and solo harmonica somehow fill the same space occupied on the original by his raw acoustic slide guitar and Pharrell Williams’ drums, keyboards and mumbles.

Sum 41 has dropped a fervent rock anthem today with 45 (A Matter of Time). An honest statement from front man Deryck Whibley, the song is his way of expressing how he feels about the current state of the world in the aftermath of the latest Presidential election.

45 (A Matter Of Time) joins previously released singles Out For Blood, Never There and A Death In The Family from Order In Decline, which is due out July 19th via Hopeless Records. Looking back at the band’s storied 23+ year career, this album is undoubtedly Sum 41’s heaviest and most aggressive album to date, while also being their most dynamic and raw.

History-making GRAMMY® Award-nominated multi-platinum artist Post Malone has released a new record entitled Goodbyes [feat. Young Thug] today.

This marks his first official collaboration with Atlanta superstar Young Thug. For production on the track, he joined forces with frequent collaborator Louis Bell and also welcomed Brian Lee [Camila Cabello, Justin Bieber] into the fold as a producer. The union of Post and Bell has historically led to a string of multiplatinum smashes, including “rockstar” [feat. 21 Savage], Better Now, Psycho [feat. Ty Dolla $ign], and many more.

After teasing new music online, Vera Blue reveals her brand new single The Way That You Love Me. It was premiered on triple j yesterday and will be performed live for the first time when Vera Blue hits the road next month for her 13-date The Way That You Love Me Tour.

Vera Blue says of her new single, “This song is the start of a new chapter, a new phase and a new story line. A fresh concept and sound inspired by the experiences and behaviours of loving relationships of people coming in and out of my life. A kind of love that can be taken advantage of or returned in ways that might be difficult to understand at the time.”

Following on from the release of new music last month, Boy & Bear have shared the official video for their upbeat and optimistic new single Hold Your Nerve.

The video celebrates the return of the Sydney band with an intimate and energetic performance video, shot by director Onil Kotian (Angus & Julia Snow and Cellar Door) who the band worked with for the first time.

Shot in black and white, the video is intercut between scenes of a constantly revolving camera around the band’s performance and a series of open-ended abstract visuals that add texture. The coloured visuals are lifted from the artwork of the band’s forthcoming album which was designed by Leif Podhajsky who is behind the album artwork for artists Tame Impala, London Grammar and Foals to name but a few and the creative director for Vivid Live Festival.

Killian Gavin from Boy & Bear says of the video, “Making this clip was a real treat. We’d obviously been away from this world for a few years and were keen to rethink how we’ve gone about clips in the past. We’ve often layered stories over performances as we felt like it helped make clips more intriguing. But this was different. We wanted to find a way to captivate an audience with just a performance-based clip. It was a challenge we sort of came up with on the spot while shooting Day 1.”

New single So Caught Up is the centrepiece of The Teskey Brothers’ forthcoming album Run Home Slow, and perhaps the most prominent departure from the band’s sound to date! Premiered by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 overnight, So Caught Up follows on from recent singles Hold Me and Man Of The Universe and is the third and final taste of the album ahead of its full release on Friday 2 August.

When the four-piece first started jamming on So Caught Up they were a bit disarmed by the poppy new territory they found themselves in. “I guess we were a bit worried about it being too much of a pop song and wanted to make sure that it didn’t sound like a huge departure from our previous stuff,” Liam says. “It was a bit different to what we’d normally play,” Brendon says. “But we were also quite excited about that.”
