Bowden Fringe Kicks Off This Weekend

Opening this weekend, Bowden is set to get festive with its own Adelaide Fringe event.
Bamboozled Productions has curated a sizzling program for Bowden Fringe in partnership with Renewal SA and Plant 4 for the March long weekend.
The team behind Stirling Fringe have devised a weekend program of international acts, family friendly shows and free music between 8 and 10 March.
All of this will be paired with locally sourced food and drink options from Plant 4 at Bowden Park, one of Adelaide’s busiest cultural hubs, complete with easy public transport options to the CBD and beyond.
Bamboozled Productions director, Louise Clarke, is thrilled to be bringing Fringe into the wilds of the inner western suburbs.
“As the Adelaide Fringe continues to expand, it’s important to find new spaces to move into and Bowden Park is a perfect venue for this. Located just outside the city, this is a conveniently central location, while also being removed from the bustle of the larger CBD hubs,” she says.
“Over three days, thanks to Plant 4 and Renewal SA, we are delivering a host of world class performers, family events and music. Bowden is really set to be one of the most exciting innovations of Fringe 2019!”
Renewal SA Project Director for Bowden, Shane Wingard says: “We’re so excited to be bringing a whole weekend of Fringe fun to the Bowden community, for the first time. We’re just a free tram ride away from all the activity of the city but there’s something special about our residents having Bowden Fringe right on their doorsteps.
“It’s also a great opportunity for visitors to come and get a taste of Bowden life. We have a diverse community and the program reflects that; it has something for everyone, from day to night. Combine this with delicious, unique delicacies from our friends at Plant 4, and we can’t imagine anywhere else you’d rather be.”
Plant 4 Bowden Owner, Marilyn Kaitatzis says: “We are thrilled and excited to welcome Bowden Fringe and look forward to sharing the Plant 4 experience.”
Hosted in the gorgeous performance tent, The Parlour, the ticketed program boasts evening performances from internationally acclaimed dance comedians Lords of Strut, the dragtastic séance experience that is Séayonce, 5-star UK comedian Eleanor Conway, local multi-instrumentalist Adam Page, sketch comedy act Sleeping Trees and circus comedians The Gagliardis.
Meanwhile, the day-time family events include multi-award winning comedian Tessa Waters in How to Be a Rockstar, comic magician Able Mable, the physical comedy of Eloise Green, New York raised dancer William Sanchez (AKA BBoy illwill) and the muscle, grace and beauty of strong lady Betty Brawn.
Topping it all off, a program of free music will be on offer, along with roving performances at the Bowden site.
Food stalls will include Gang Gang Co Burgers, Joe Dumpling and Moongarden Pizza. Meanwhile, the Plant 4 in-house eateries will operate across all three days (Friday 5-9pm, Saturday 9-3pm and Sunday 9-3pm), including Nutrition Republic, Voula’s Greek Cafe, Cheese-a-holics and My Grandma Ben. The Plant 4 markets also run concurrently with Bowden Fringe on Friday evening (5-9pm) and Saturday (9am-3pm).
In addition, the Plant 4 Bar is operating a pop-up outside in the park, featuring South Australian beer, wine, cider and soft drinks along with delicious cocktails from locally crafted spirits.
The Bowden weekend offers a program of quality entertainment, with a mix of free and ticketed events that will truly bring the magic of the Adelaide Fringe into a dynamic suburban location on the city fringes.
This March long weekend, there’s no better place to celebrate the best that South Australia has to offer. Tickets are only available at the door on the day, with further program details here.
