TUSHAR Is Back With New EP ‘Feels Like A Start’
South Asian Australian artist TUSHAR is back, delivering a feel-good fusion of surf indie pop and indie rock with his eagerly awaited sophomore EP, Feels Like A Start. Known for his bouncy, mood-lifting sound, TUSHAR draws from personal experiences to create music that’s as playful as it is heartfelt. The catchy focus single, Tonight, encapsulates the awkward charm of those late-night, tipsy calls to loved ones.
Tonight blends nostalgia with lively melodies, making it a track that’s both danceable and touching. Built on jangly guitar riffs and TUSHAR’s expressive, airy vocals, the song taps into an irresistible rhythm that evokes joy and laughter. Inspired by acts like Two Door Cinema Club, Wallows, and Dayglow, TUSHAR has crafted a sound that combines dreamy synthesizers, acoustic guitars, and polished production for a modern indie vibe that’s fresh and timeless. TUSHAR tells Hi Fi Way more.
How exciting was the build up to the release of the EP Feels Like A Start?
The build up has been a lot of work, but it’s definitely been worth it getting everything in order for this EP.
Is there a feeling of relief when the EP was finished?
I feel so relieved to have this EP released. Moving to a different state, acquiring a new job, finding a rental while juggling this EP has been tough, but with the support of my friends, band mates and family, I have been able to stay on track with this release.
What was the biggest lesson learnt that you would not repeat again?
My first job in Melbourne this year affected all aspects of my life, especially in terms of music. I had to put a pause on this release because of the environment I was in. I have since left that job, and I’m feeling like myself again 🙂
Sonically, how would you describe Tushar?
Dynamic and full of energy!
How did the band meet?
We have all known each other for a long time through the Adelaide music scene. We all used to play in different bands and played on several of the same line-ups together. I love them all so much.
What was the energy like in those initial jam sessions?
From all of our past experiences, we were able to lock in with each other easily. There’s great energy and connection between all of us.
Who are some of the biggest musical heroes for Tushar?
Two Door Cinema Club, Dayglow, The Drums, Foals, Death Cab For Cutie, Bon Iver, Bombay Bicycle Club, The XX.
How did you come up with the name Tushar?
It’s my birth name 🙂
Are there plans for more next in 2025?
I will be releasing more music in 2025, definitely! Now that I have moved to Melbourne, I am hoping to land more shows in my new local state! Hopefully some additional touring as well in the later half of 2025. We will see!
Are there plans to tour around the country?
No plans yet, but I am hoping to!
What’s next for Tushar?
Plan for the next release. We have a bunch of songs that I’d love to get out into the world. I am hoping to kickstart again in Feb 2025 with another tune! Stay tuned, there’s more to come.
