Double the Derby – Adelaide Roller Derby Season Opener

Adelaide Roller Derby skates into their 16th season with Double the Derby!

On Saturday 18 March, the season will open with a hard-hitting doubleheader at the Adelaide Showgrounds as part of the 2023 Adelaide Fringe.

Considered a staple of South Australia, Adelaide Roller Derby was established in 2007 and is Adelaide’s oldest and largest roller derby league. The league is a not-for-profit organisation owned and operated by Adelaide Roller Derby skaters and officials.
Each year, teams Mile Die Club, Road Train Rollers, The Good Ship Salty and Wild Hearses compete to see who will reign supreme. While the only undefeated team in the league, Team Zebra, officiate.

All teams will be whipped onto the track at the Adelaide Showgrounds and into the Adelaide Fringe next weekend. Of their foray into the Adelaide Fringe, Hellsa from Team Zebra stated, “We are thrilled to be a part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Our public bouts are always full of colour, excitement, live music, and heaps of derby! We are happy to share the fun with people during a vibrant time in Adelaide.”

Derby is a full-contact sport played totally on wheels. The thrills and spills are 100% real. Don’t miss the very first games of the 2023 season. Firstly, the Wild Hearses take on The Good Ship Salty, and then reigning champions Mile Die Club will take on the Road Train Rollers. Between games, you can check out Bout Village and see what local stall holders can offer or grab a bite to eat while listening to a live band.
