Ammonia’s 1985 Classic Album ‘Mint 400’ To Get A Vinyl Reissue

Love As Fiction Records is proud to announce we will be reissuing Ammonia’s classic 1995 album Mint 400 on vinyl for the first time since release. Hailing from Perth, Ammonia (Dave Johnstone, Allan Balmont and Simon Hensworth) burst onto the alternative scene with singles Drugs, Ken Carter and Suzi Q and were a first signing to Sony’s Murmur label, alongside silverchair, Something for Kate, Bluebottle Kiss, Jebediah and more.

The release of the album took the band on international tours and they released two albums over their career before breaking up in 1999. Their debut album Mint 400 was produced by Kevin “Caveman” Shirley over 10 days at Festival Studios in Sydney, recorded to analogue tape.

The restored and remastered reissue of Mint 400 is available for pre-order now, in addition Love As Fiction Records has restored several album t-shirt options. Pre-orders can be made at www.loveasfictionrecords.com.au with the record due for release by June 2023.

“From humble beginnings in our home town of Perth, we managed to record an album that took us around the world and gave us experiences we could have only dreamt of” – Dave Johnstone, January 2023.

Love As Fiction Records was founded in 2021 in Perth WA and has released one record to date, a reissue of Bluebottle Kiss’ Somnambulist Homesick Blues on vinyl, which was also produced under licence from Sony.
