Markus Hamence Presents Bobby Fox Sings! @ The Regal Theatre, Kensington Park SA 9/7/2022

Another popular Markus Hamence Presents show Bobby Fox Sings! was full of classic traditional Irish tunes and well-known Frankie Valli hits plus much more from the multi-talented Bobby Fox. Gracing the stage at The Regal Theatre last night for almost a two hour long show Fox ‘wowed!’ the audience with his charm and talent. He sings, he dances and he’s also a great storyteller. Maybe it’s the Irish in him that makes him so versatile but what a performer!
Starting with a story on how The Frankie Valli taught him to sing, there was only one way this show was going to go…all the way to Jersey! Accompanied by the talented Ben Grayson on piano, Fox sang many of the songs from the hit musical show The Jersey Boys; Cant Take My Eyes Off You, Sherry, My Eyes Adored You, Stay (just a little bit longer) and December 1963 (Oh What a Night).
Yearning to go back to his homeland this is where Fox really hit the heart strings when he sang the traditional Irish classics Danny Boy, Red is the Rose and A Mothers Love is a Blessing. Singing from the soul, this Irish boy was in his element. Fox is animated, cool and confident and sings with such joy that his happy nature is so infectious!
The show was a mix of upbeat and slow ballads from the George Michael hit Careless Whisper, the Bee Gees More Than a Woman (with falsettos on point!), Rufus Wainwright’s Natasha, Mel Torme’s We’ve Got a World That Swings and as he claimed Australia’s anthem, John Farnham’s You’re The Voice where he really showcased his versatility. Throw in some Sinatra classics Glad to be Happy, I Got You Under My Skin and the smash hit My Way and he really can sing it all! Not bad for a four times World Irish Dance Champion who really started singing professionally when he arrived in Australia soon after landing the role of Frankie Valli in The Jersey Boys.
Fox was delighted to be in Adelaide and the audience was just as delighted he came to our fair city. Clapping, cheering and pretty much demanding for an encore he came back on stage and sang acapella a beautifully haunting version of The Parting Glass. The highlight of an already fantastic night. What a voice! What a talent! What a guy! Adelaide awaits your return Mr Fox!
