Big Lez @ Tandanya Theatre, Adelaide 23/02/2019

What do you do if you’re a comedian and you suffer a major health setback? Obviously you include it in your routine! Seven weeks before her Adelaide Fringe season the Big Lez herself Lily Starr suffered an epileptic seizure for the first time. Not knowing or having been officially diagnosed it was a big change for her but also lots of material for her show. The biggest setback for her being restricted to a limit of five alcoholic drinks for the night. Yeah I feel for ya Lil!
Besides her new health status the bold, brash and unapologetic Lily Starr gave us an insight to all things Lesbian, her relationship status, the recent Gay marriage plebiscite and her job at a school. There’s always a funny story when you have the privilege and joy of working with students. What surprised me is when she belted out a few tunes. This Big Lez has got a set of lungs that I think she should be included more into her show. The stand out song was the Fart song. If only one of her students knew it was about them!
This was the first time for me at a Lily Starr show and I can say she is as dry and hilarious as her Instagram account. Funny is in her blood. Her Adelaide Fringe season is over for this year but add her to your list for next time.
