Ukiyo On His Top 5 Producers

The inventive 21 year old multi-instrumentalist and producer, Ukiyo returns with a bubbling new single Clicky, an eccentric instrumental track that percolates with intricate percussion. Clicky is the latest taste of Ukiyo’s much anticipated EP entitled Fantasy, a heady collection of distinctive production moments, featuring instrumental tracks and exceptional collaborations with vocalists Chymes and Feelds, set for release on July 25.
Clicky is playful and captivatingly peculiar, undeniable in its bouncy hooks and curious harmony. It’s impossible not to tap along to this one, as each layer dips and weaves amongst themselves, creating a perfectly balanced amalgamation of different sound. Ukiyo has a soft spot for this uber cool track, saying, “Instrumentals have a special place in my heart, definitely stemming from my love of soundtracks…I started and basically finished Clicky in one hot Aussie summer day. The track started with all the percussion stuff which is why it got that name – most of my tracks start with a silly name like that, but somehow this one stuck. I recorded the synth stuff live and really liked how out of time it was so I kept them like that and kind of warped the rest of the track to be in time with these synth stabs instead of the other way round.”
Whilst dropping by Ukiyo has given us his list of his Top 5 Emerging Producers for you… enjoy!
Kendl
An awesome guy with some amazingly intricate but catchy music. Seriously underrated. I’ll never forget being completely blown away by his track Drive Slow.
MUTO
If you’re a fan of the Flume stuff then you’ll dig this, check out his track Through the Fog – it’s an all-time favourite of mine.
Joakim Karud
A producer I met through my collaborations with Casey Neistat. He’s got so many sensational tracks. Couldn’t recommend another artist more for chill background music.
PNK FME
A guy I met on tour in Adelaide, crazy crazy talented and the most underrated producer on this list. His new song ‘Jaded’ should be topping the charts right now, I’m sure it’ll get there in no time.
Tourist
Not so much an emerging producer, but definitely another one that deserves a lot more attention. His album U is perfection.
