By A Thread @ The Peacock at Gluttony, Adelaide 9/3/2018

By a Thread is one of many aerial circus shows being shown this Fringe however this one is a stand out for simplicity in concept, fused with complexity of acrobatics and demanding physicality. By A Thread holds the audience enraptured by individual and collective displays of strength and agility, all the while using a single rope.
Seven agile performers make up the troupe for By A Thread using only a rope as a prop to showcase their acrobatic and physicality for an hour show. Executing incredible strength, and gymnastics, this troupe work seamlessly as a cohesive team to present each individual strengths.
The simplicity of minimal stage props allow the audience to focus on the performers themselves and the acrobatics and comedic theatrics on offer.
The entire show was made to look effortless and simple, defying the intensity and difficulty required in reality. At times it felt the audience didn’t truly appreciate what strength was required for some of the act, and at other times, burst into applause in true appreciation of this art form.
The performance was mesmerising, the audience finding themselves at times holding their breath in anticipation and amazement. Music choice complemented the show and kept the flow of the show moving from fast to slow, and serious to funny.
If you want to gasp in wonder and awe as incredible aerial feats and be captured for an hour – then go see this show.
