Introducing: US Grunge-Outfit Dexter and The Moonrocks

After generating over 5 million views across socials, Dexter and The Moonrocks have unveiled their highly-anticipated grunge rock track Freakin’ Out – out now via Severance Records/Big Loud Rock. Drenched in their signature Western Space Grunge grit, the temperamental tune’s accompanying visualizer finds the y’allternative band crashing out during an abandoned warehouse jam.

Of the track, Dexter and The Moonrocks shared, “Freakin’ Out speaks to a lot of different issues that people tend to face – fear, loneliness, and anxiety, and all that other terrible shit that we all have – and how sometimes there’s nothing you can do about any of it, except freak the fuck out every now and then.”

Over the past couple of years, Dexter and The Moonrocks have become one of alternative rock’s most undeniable breakout acts. Freakin’ Out is the band’s second offering of the year, following their moody February ballad Flavorless. In 2025, the band unveiled two EPs – Happy To Be Here, which featured their Top 5 Alternative Radio hit Ritalin – and Donkey Flats, a project that pays tribute to the y’allternative band’s small town roots. In 2024, Dexter and The Moonrocks held the #1 spot at Alternative Radio for 8 consecutive weeks with their breakout radio single Sad in Carolina.

Additionally, the Abilene, TX rockers toured relentlessly in 2025 across North America, sharing stages with Cage The Elephant, Whiskey Myers, and Red Clay Strays, as well as playing a festival set at Vans Warped Tour, all while headlining their own Happy To Be (Everyw)here Tour.

Dexter and The Moonrocks are currently on their Welcome To The Donkey Flats Tour, which runs through June. The West Texas rockers are also set to deliver electrifying festival sets at CottonFest and Rocklahoma this summer.
