Breakthrough Alternative Star ratbag Shares Her Latest Single ‘drag’
Breakthrough alternative star ratbag shares her latest single drag and its accompanying video, co-directed by ratbag and Jack Carden. The track is ratbag’s third new single of 2026, following how to cry and last month’s halftime oranges, and arrives ahead of her debut London show at The George Tavern next week.
drag shows a more vulnerable side of ratbag as the artist explores her own mental health, building from an understated ballad towards a cathartic crescendo with gorgeously layered harmonies and walls of sound.
Around her first ever UK shows, ratbag has been spotted bringing her art into the real world in London and Brighton. The artist has teased new music with performance art on London public transport, drawing strangers underground and even bringing a caricature stand to Brighton Pier, racking up over 40 million views on TikTok alone.
The New Zealand-based artist debuted drag and her 2026 singles live at a standout set at The Great Escape last week. Next week, she headlines The George Tavern in London on Tuesday 26 May. Tickets are on sale now here.
Speaking on the new single, ratbag shares: “sometimes i get to the end of a day and feel that i’ve dragged myself through. everybody around me seems to move at a regular speed, and though i still reach the same end points, i get there a lot slower. i’ve kinda always felt like a drag, to myself and others. so yeah, if this also sounds like you, i hope this song treats you well.”
