Saosin, Senses Fail, Fallweather @ Hindley Street Music Hall, Adelaide 26/4/2026
The calibre of bands coming through Adelaide at the minute is next level exception and we are really well and truly been spoilt for options. One of those was the return of the mighty Saosin who blew the roof off Hindley Street Music Hall. There is no doubt there are going through a massive resurgence and with the return of Cove Reber back in to the fold the line up is settled, they’re firing on all four’s, new album on the way and this gig served as a very bold reminder that Saosin are back.
The line up was stacked with Senses Fail and rapid risers Fallweather reminding punters that it’s also very much about looking forwards and not just celebrating nostalgia which is a wonderful thing.
Fallweather more than proved they mix it with the best of them and whilst it took a bit of coaxing to fire up the crowd there was plenty there to like about how they go about it. Perched comfortably in that post-hardcore genre there was no wasting a second unleashing their fury on Kill My Doubt. Playing songs mostly from their new EP You For Life which included the likes of Glance, Carousel, Another Vice and set closer Candle Light Keep an eye on these guys in 2026.
Senses Fail upped the ante hitting the stage to Hall & Oates You Make My Dreams (Come True) adding a touch of irony. These Jersey rockers were fantastic killing it early with the likes of Cute When You Scream, Calling All Cars and Death By Water. Singer Buddy Nelson had plenty of moves and microphone twirls making it hard to want to take eyes off him wondering what he’ll do next. Engaging with the crowd one roared like a “big cat” getting Nelson’s attention encouraging punters to let it all out and roar. There was a moment of reminiscing about playing Taste Of Chaos here many moons ago and touring with mates Saosin for twenty years.
Choke On This was ace then ripping through Wolves At The Door, Renacer and Shark Attack. There was a serious side to Nelson talking about overcoming the darker days and his struggles with mental health and panic attacks encouraging everyone to break the cycle in particular amongst men serving as the intro to Buried A Lie. Things got a bit political and rather saying anything “as they are listening” and “can’t afford to be cancelled” it was over to the crowd to yell their displeasure. Topping of a killer a set with Can’t Be Saved and Bite To Break Skin, let’s hope it isn’t so long for a return visit.
Clinical! Stamping their authority over their show Saosin were in rampaging form. The energy levels in the room were amplified a thousand times and it was a case of letting the celebrations begin for their landmark debut album. Wow! Right from the get go the band were on led by guitarist Beau Burchell who looked like he was having the time of his life even saying that “I had legit dreams about tonight, some of them dry!” Their debut is loaded with great songs and this was definitely one of those rare things being able to hear it played in full.
They nailed everything, the sound, the production, the performance… clinical! I Can Tell There Was An Accident Here Earlier and Translating The Name were scintillating and red hot. The crowd responded and that enthusiasm was palpable. Incredible to see how much these songs mean to their fans even now twenty years later. It would be easy to list every song as a highlight but the likes of It’s Far Better To Learn and even Come Close stand out for me. New single Starting Over Again is fantastic also slotting in the set perfectly.
“One from the Saosin Swift Eras record” in The Silver String got the crowd going again then “back to our funky Beatles record” with I Never Wanted To. Burchell spoke about being able to really get in to it recovering from a soccer injury with the rest band coining the word “mogging” with some in house banter on stage. Some Sense Of Security was followed by a promise of a new album and to tour more often which was well received. Finishing in a blaze of glory of the first song they ever released Seven Years and You’re Not Alone bringing to an end an incredible gig. Can’t wait for next time.
