Friday Mix Tape #2

Thank god it’s Friday, here’s some new tunes to kick start the weekend…

Following a standout Coachella debut on Saturday night, and 39-date arena tour announce this week, multiple award-winning, GRAMMY®-nominated artist SOMBR unleashes another stellar single and surefire hit into the world. Written entirely by the 20-year-old superstar, Potential was teased live during his Coachella set last weekend, and arrives with a cinematic official music video directed by Gus Black.

Potential follows the ARIA Gold Homewrecker which marked SOMBR’s fifth entry on the Billboard Global 200, fourth on the Hot 100, and his highest first-week debut to date, showing no signs of slowing down in what has already been a jaw-dropping 2026, SOMBR entered the year with a Best New Artist GRAMMY® nomination and an electrifying performance on the telecast, following a breakout year that included a show-stopping performance and “Best Alternative” win at the MTV VMAs, as well as appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Saturday Night Live.

On the eve of the release of their hotly anticipated new album, Experiencing Feelings of Joy, The Jungle Giants drop yet another teaser of what’s to come, in the form of the shimmering A Moment Like That.

Coming across like an old school Balearic tinged banger complete with gloriously euphoric chorus, A Moment Like That is an electro rave up unlike any other. Even though it’s a surefire four to the floor dancefloor staple in waiting, it actually came out of frontman Sam Hales’ processing of a particularly turbulent part of his life – and with the use of The Artist’s Way, envisioning joy and excitement on the other side of it. “It’s me backing myself, being in myself again and feeling confident” Hales says. “It felt really good to sing like that because I hadn’t sung like that in a long time, and it was all coming back. Essentially “A Moment Like That” started to become literally about that moment, about me feeling good about myself again”.

Following on the heels of her first new music in almost two years, Amy Shark delights fans with more music with latest single Our Last Fight.

Our Last Fight is the second track to be released from Amy’s upcoming fourth studio album soft pop, due for release on July 31.

Speaking on the track, Amy says “I wanted to bottle that slightly chaotic post-breakup energy and the contradiction of wanting closure while still spiralling, reinventing yourself, and wanting attention while still holding onto someone we’re trying to let go of. This song is brutally honest about how irrational heartbreak can make you”.

Cult-favorite pop disruptor Slayyyter releases new song, BROKE BITCH FREE$TYLE. The song arrives off the heels of the release of her critically acclaimed album WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Dance Albums chart.

With BROKE BITCH FREE$TYLE, Slayyyter delivers a high-energy anthem that blurs the line between trashy glamor and self-aware satire. Fueled by impulsive nightlife activities, maxed-out credit cards, and gas station fashion, the lyrics highlight the contradiction between an aspirational lifestyle and reality. Laced with dark humor, it captures the thrill of living in extravagance without worrying about consequences. The song has been in high demand from fans since its live debut at Slayyyter’s Boiler Room set in 2024.

This past Friday, Slayyyter made her highly anticipated solo debut at Coachella, commanding a packed crowd at 3pm. The performance quickly emerged as one of the weekend’s defining moments, solidifying her status as one of pop’s most compelling live acts.

Kodaline have released their brand new single We Were Only Young, the first song to be taken from their fifth and final studio album due later this year via Fantasy Records. Album pre-orders start today.

We Were Only Young is a stunning reflective piano ballad rich in soaring vocal harmonies, grand orchestration and soul-stirring emotion from the beloved Irish band.

The track sees frontman songwriter Steve Garrigan join forces with producer and co-writer Mads Christensen.

Regarding the single Steve says, “‘We Were Only Young’ is a bittersweet song about looking back on better times, knowing you can’t ever go back. Like most songs I write, it comes from something real, that feeling of being part of something special, and only fully understanding it with time. In some ways, it reflects the journey we’ve been on together.”

Proud Filipino and Murrawarri composer, rapper, producer and drummer DOBBY has dropped anthemic new single Sabotage! ft. Josh Pyke.

Says DOBBY of the single: “’Sabotage!’ is the sequel to ‘Good For Nothing’; where self-conditioning turns into self-destruction. Written from a deeply personal place, it reflects my experience navigating professional relationships in the industry, and stepping out of that with clarity, accountability, and a renewed sense of my own power. “It’s nobody but me holding myself back.”

Formed on the 2025 Top 10 global Netflix series Building the Band, four-piece group Midnight Til Morning continue their rapid global ascent with the announcement of their new single Math, a powerful and emotionally charged release that showcases their signature blend of soaring vocals, vulnerability, and undeniable charisma.

The new single Math is co-written with acclaimed hitmakers including Neil Ormandy (James Arthur – Say You Won’t Let Go), JC Stewart (Lewis Capaldi, Niall Horan, Tom Odel) and Michael Matosic (Lauv – I Like Me Better). The early anticipation for the release has been fuelled by strong digital engagement, with TikTok teasers generating over Half a Million views, and more than 1,000 pieces of user-generated content.

Multi-platinum band Young the Giant have released their new single, Already There. Produced by Brendan O’Brien (AC/DC, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan) and Young the Giant, and written by the band collectively, the track is an emotionally charged song about distance, longing, and the quiet ways we stay connected to the ones we love, no matter how far apart we are. An equally inspiring music video for the track is also out now.

Speaking on the new single, the band shared, “Already There is a song about the strange tension between distance and intimacy. It’s about two people who are far from one another but share the same dream of being together — existing in that in-between space where love feels both absent and overwhelmingly present at the same time. There’s something almost spiritual about that kind of connection, especially in young, earth-shattering love, where even across miles you feel like part of you is already there.”

Acclaimed US singer-songwriter, pianist and composer Tori Amos releases new single Gasoline Girls, the latest chapter in the unfolding narrative of forthcoming studio album In Times of Dragons, due out on May 1, 2026 via Universal/Fontana.

Following the previously released singles Stronger Together and Shush, Gasoline Girls offers another glimpse into the album’s allegorical world – a landscape shaped by power, escape and the alliances that form in resistance.

Gasoline Girls arrives at a crucial moment in the album’s unfolding narrative. As the fictionalised version of Amos continues her flight from a dangerous and powerful billionaire husband, she encounters the Gasoline Girls, a rebellious collective who help her continue her escape.

Singing “we will tend the fire,” the Gasoline Girls are a Lesbian motor bike gang who have chosen to be powerful and visible together. Within the mythic landscape of In Times of Dragons, they embody solidarity, defiance and collective strength and their arrival marks the moment when resistance begins to take shape.

Amos explains:
“This is a metaphor for many different transformations – from a teenage girl becoming a woman, to shifts in gender identity or fundamental belief systems, to the life changes that come with pregnancy, motherhood and eventually menopause. The song explores the emotions that come with leaving one version of yourself behind and stepping into another.”

Genre-bending artist and internet personality Oliver Tree is making waves yet again with the release of his latest single, All You Ever Wanted, out today via Atlantic Records. The track marks the latest release from his highly anticipated fourth studio album, Love You Madly, Hate You Badly, set to release April 24th, 2026. Tree officially announced the release of the upcoming album today, along with the single release, building even more excitement with fans.

Following previously released singles Superhero, Joyride, Flowers, and Deep End, All You Ever Wanted, which was entirely written and produced by Tree, is his latest addition to a highly anticipated body of work, and continues to show the different sides of his artistry. The single picks up where Deep End left off sonically, beginning with a simple arrangement that highlights Tree’s vocal performance and the song’s floating melodies, before transitioning to an uptempo anthem underscored by a familiar hardhitting dance beat. Its infectious, upbeat energy paired with heartfelt lyrics create a perfect blend that pushes musical boundaries and showcase how multifaceted Tree truly is.

Grammy Nominated and Diamond-certified superstar Teddy Swims starts a brand-new era with Mr. Know It All, an instantly catchy and deceptively breezy cut about the pain of romantic self-sabotage.

Mr. Know It All mixes vintage grooves, ’80s rock hook-craft, and lush modern production to build a moody but cool backdrop for Swims’ soul-searching lyrics. Amid sharp pizzicato strings and pillowy guitar, Swims delivers the brutal chorus: “Shoulda told you I could see this coming, like I’m lookin’ right into a crystal ball / When I fall in love it’s with misfortune, oh, I wish I wasn’t Mr. Know It All.”

Swims spoke on the inspiration behind his refreshingly honest new single: “‘Mr. Know It All’ explores the idea that love can become a self-fulfilling contradiction. When you believe you already know how it ends, you protect yourself by holding back and that distance becomes the reason it fails. But when you try to fight that fate and control every outcome, you can end up suffocating the connection. It’s about how both fear and control can quietly undo something real. It’s essentially a spin on Robert K. Merton’s concepts of self-destroying prophecy versus the self-fulfilling prophecy also known as ‘The Prophet’s Dilemma’.”
