Make sure you GRAB YA TIX! One show only on Saturday March 14 in the Auditorium, Adelaide Town Hall. Director Tom Gay answered some questions for Hi Fi Way about this popular show.

Silent Disco is back at Adelaide Fringe, what can people expect from the show?
Everyone can expect three hours of non-stop dancing until you’re sweating and singing at the top of your lungs! The unique part about this event is that it’s our first ever NEON-themed show! We’re talking nothing but iconic hits from the 80s, 90s and 2000s, with a sea of people dressed head-to-toe in glowing neon. It’s going to be an absolute banger of a night — and truly the first of its kind!

How does it feel to be a part of Adelaide Fringe?
It feels unbelievable! I recently became an Australian citizen, and ten years ago when I first came to Adelaide, it was during the Adelaide Fringe. I remember seeing all the live performers and shows with my mouth wide open in amazement. I thought maybe one day I could create that same feeling for someone else — and here we are! What was once just an idea, just a dream, has now come true. It’s honestly surreal.

Where is the Silent Disco venue this year?
The spectacular Adelaide Town Hall! An absolutely iconic venue that makes the whole experience feel even more special.

How long have you been doing Amazing Silent Discos?
Amazing Silent Discos launched in Australia in December 2024, and since then we’ve toured all across the country in some truly iconic locations.

We’ve taken over:

  • Melbourne Town Hall
  • National Museum of Australia
  • Hobart Town Hall
  • Wollongong Art Gallery
  • Art Gallery of New South Wales
  • Overseas Passenger Terminal

And our newest location will be the Amazing Australian Museum in Sydney and Queensland Museum to come 😉

Tell us about how much fun the audience participation of dancing in silence can be?
Haha, to be honest, there is nothing silent about this! Our three DJs keep you entertained the entire time. Imagine hundreds of people doing the YMCA, the Macarena, and forming a giant conga line all at once. Then when you take your headphones off, you hear squeaking shoes on the dance floor and guests singing in pure harmony, it’s hilarious and magical at the same time. It’s definitely something you have to experience at least once. The whole night will leave you singing at the top of your lungs… with no one to hear you!

Have there been any funny moments from people dancing?
There have been so many highlights, but one of the funniest moments was a ninety-year-young woman absolutely owning the dance floor to Bad Romance by Lady Gaga. She was doing all the dance moves without hesitation, it’s been a personal highlight of mine ever since. Proof that Silent Disco is for absolutely everyone!

It seems to be a very popular concept what is it that people love so much about Amazing Silent Disco?
Silent Discos has been around for years, but the magic is all in the execution. People love our events because they’re nothing like a regular nightclub where you’re locked into one DJ and one genre. At Amazing Silent Discos, you choose what you want to listen to and when you want to listen to it. What really sets us apart is the fun, interactive elements and crowd participation, it truly elevates the experience to a whole new level.

What are three words to describe Amazing Silent Disco?
Immersive. Fun. Unforgettable. 🎧✨🔥
