Set against the musical backdrop of the 80s and 90s, Michael Griffiths weaves a captivating narrative, intertwining iconic pop songs by the Pet Shop Boys with the pivotal moments of his life growing up queer. Accompanied by the enchanting melodies of Julian Ferraretto on violin and Dylan Paul on double bass, Michael’s renditions of classics like Rent, Love Comes Quickly, Suburbia, Go West, and It’s a Sin resonate with genuine raw emotion.

Michael’s cabaret style is as unique as it is captivating, effortlessly blending humour and heartache as he shares personal anecdotes and reflections of his queer life. From the moment of discovering his queer identity to the challenges of coming out in a time of societal stigma, each song serves as a representation of significant moments in his life.

Throughout the performance, Michael skilfully navigates the complexities of love and shame, inviting you to laugh and reflect alongside him. His storytelling is both poignant and hilarious, offering glimpses into the crucial moments and colourful characters that shaped his journey, including a very heartfelt final song accompanied by his partner of over 30 years, the heart strings were certainly pulled at this point.

It’s a Sin is not just a cabaret performance; it’s a celebration of authenticity and queerness. Michael’s journey of coming out and finding his true identity is incredibly relatable and down to earth. But most importantly this show is an ode to Michael’s partner, their relationship spanning decades and knowing that they are there for each other no matter what.
