Tommy Little Has A Regular Size Deck @ The Vagabond at The Garden of Unearthly Delights, Adelaide 21/2/2024
After Tommy Little sold out his first few shows over the weekend, and having previously heard the roaring laughter from the other side of The Vagabond tent, I knew we were in for a great time. The queue looked as if it went on and on and on as people showed up in masses to see the much-loved comedian and radio show host. It was a fantastic turn out for a Wednesday night at The Garden, and the crowd was certainly up and about.
‘Good evening you gorgeous motherf*s!’ he shouted from behind the curtain. Twice. The main man took to the stage looking relaxed with a beer in hand, wearing an oversized tee and skinny jeans. The audience were pleased with what they saw as Tommy had compliments hurled at him, left, right and centre. One might say he encouraged the attention, as he flirted back with the crowd.
He had no shame in showing the people what they wanted to see, regularly flashing his torso to firstly show us the list of women’s names he has tattooed on his ribs… And secondly where his ribs were permanently damaged in a fight against Tim Tszyu whilst Tommy was dressed as a giant kebab. No spoilers here – you just have to hear the story for yourselves for it to have the justice it deserves.
Tommy had great interactions with the crowd, but unlike many other comedians, often we found Tommy himself at the butt of the joke. Unafraid to laugh at his own expense, he detailed his ADHD diagnoses and poked fun at his manhood on several occasions.
Find out who has been the only woman to have ever captured Tommy’s heart as he opens up and tells funny stories of his trip to Africa, his stint on Celebrity Grand Prix and having to pick up after his two Cavoodle puppies, Rocky and Rambo.
The show was tied together nicely with references from the start coming full circle towards the end. A clever, endearing and flawlessly put together show for someone that claims to wing it from one night to the next.
Much to the disappointment of the attendees, we didn’t get to find out if Tommy really does have a regular size deck, but we did have a BRILLIANT time.
My favourite feel-good performance from the Adelaide Fringe season so far.
