Georgia Flood On New Single ‘Blue Honey’

Floating with ethereal sensuality and lush electronic pop, the brand new single Blue Honey out now from Australian singer-songwriter and actress Georgia Flood silkily captures the gamut of anxiety with glassy and polished affability. Following on from Georgia Flood’s country-dipped debut single Cowboy earlier this year, Blue Honey seamlessly embodies its cool and oozing namesake while also mingling Flood’s formative musical loves and eclectic inspirations,

Teaming up with producer Matt Curtin, who also took on mixing and mastering duties for Blue Honey, Flood welds her crystalline vocals across palpitating, humid beats, ambient instrumentation and hauntingly sensual melodics. But beneath the after-dark pop sensibilities, Blue Honey also powerfully displays the realities of anxiety beyond the stereotypical traits. Georgia answers a few quick questions about the single.

How has the build-up been leading up to the release of Blue Honey?
Exciting and nerve racking.

Was the process of making your single as challenging as you thought?
I guess so. My producer Matt Curtin (we’ve actually never met in person) lives in Sydney. So, we made the whole song, over zoom basically! That was probs the most challenging part. But also rewarding, Matt is very tech savvy and really understood what vibe I was after.

Sonically, how would you describe your music?
Well…A review of Blue Honey the other day said my voice in the song is ‘mellifluous’…which I love. The music itself is dark, energetic and sexy.

Who would you consider to be the biggest influence on your music and why?
I couldn’t possibly choose one artist. Joni Mitchell probably. But at the moment, or in the past two years, I have been heavily influenced by Fred Again and Taylor Swift.

Best piece of advice you have been given?
Your cells are eavesdropping on your thoughts.

What is the ‘Georgia Flood’ life story?
Once upon a time, a small town Australian gal, grew up in Dubai for a minute and then started acting professionally at 14. After that she became a teen-pop sensation in Korea. Just kidding. After Dubai. I became a pop/electro/country- obsessed teen-actress and here we are! I started my musical journey in a meaningful way in the last couple of years. .

Are you looking to tour more broadly?
Yes, that would be incredible.

What’s next for you?
The next song! Oh and I have a couple of tv shows coming out…Nautilus for Disney + and Apples Never Fall for NBC.
