Behind The Scenes On Laura Mac’s ‘Don’t Know What I’m Thinking’ Video Shoot

With fresh & glistening sonics, LAURA MAC have returned with new single Don’t Know What I’m Thinking, marking a shift in sound for the Queensland duo, trading indie-rock for quirky & sharp guitar-pop. As charming and alluring as ever, singer Laura Machlachlan retains the luscious melodies of previous single Garage Full of Dreams, with band and Zac Connelley now adding dance rhythms, jangly guitars and jaunting pop synth melodies to create Don’t Know What I’m Thinking. Reminiscent of Australian favourites Confidence Man, Eves Karydas and G Flip, the duo have channelled their love for those all night parties, good friends & celebrating every chance they get, to build a track that will fill dancefloors every single night.

Working once again with the prolific Luke Palmer (Dead Letter Circus, Golding, Boo Seeka), the duo were able to mold a demo written on their bright red party bus, into the dancefloor anthem heard today. Recorded at Palmer’s studio in Clontarf, the duo headed to Ian Peres (Wolfmother) home studio to get help with tracking key and organ for the song, with the legend also putting a final touch on programming to finish off the Don’t Know What I’m Thinking. A collaborative effort featuring LAURA MAC’s friends, adding the final touches to a track that celebrates good times and high-fives with those you love.

Our good friend Locklan rocked up to the car wash in his sweet Abarth Spider which of course we had to star in the clip. Catch it getting sudded up and scrubbed by a gorgeous gang.

We had the brilliant Colin Jeffs come up to the Sunshine Coast to film this music video with us. A perfectly professional hype man and director.

Car wash party in full swing while Zac tears it up on his old faithful Rickenbacker 360 and VOX AC30.

Dane the divine drummer – I don’t know about you, but I have serious hair envy of this dude! What a champion mate and beat maker.

The sexy, mysterious star of the video – and I’m not talking about the bike. Eli pulled through as the main attraction of our video shoot. We had several gentlemen arranged to seductively work the car wash but inevitably covid struck and we lost everyone to quarantine – except Eli, our MVP <3
