Fremantle based indie-pop favourites San Cisco has released the single and video for their cover of The Wiggles’ 2018 floor-filler, H.O.L.I.D.A.Y.
H.O.L.I.D.A.Y is set to an upbeat groove that is precisely where San Cisco lives – and goes a long way to explain how effortlessly the band has reimagined this track! It will feature on the highly anticipated new album ReWiggled, set for release on March 11 via ABC Music.
San Cisco explains how they came to be involved, saying, “We were excited to receive an email from The Wiggles inviting us to be a part of their ReWiggled record along with so many other great artists. We had four songs to choose from; ‘The Shimmie Shake!’, ‘Romp Bomp a Stomp’, ‘H.O.L.I.D.A.Y’, and ‘Blow Up Your Balloon’. Straight away, the disco vibe and strong chorus hook from ‘H.O.L.I.D.A.Y’ caught our attention, and we unanimously agreed this was the track for us. In between our own recording session, Josh started playing around with a few ideas and directions we could take the song in until he came across what we all thought was an absolute vibe. Scarlett and I came in and did some vocals, and after a few tweaks of the arrangement and some bits and pieces here and there, we had our first Wiggles cover.”
Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field concurs, “We are so stoked with this cover – what an amazingly authentic version. San Cisco has taken all of the colour and fun of our original and injected it with their own incredible style – it’s perfect!”
The Wiggles claimed the spotlight a few weeks ago when their stellar cover of Tame Impala’s Elephant hit #1 on triple j’s Hottest 100, the track also part of the ReWiggled album.
