LEGO Australia’s New Dance Sensation Sees Baker Boy Put A Next Generation Twist On An INXS Classic

Rising Australian rapper, Baker Boy, and iconic rock band INXS, have teamed up to create a fun dance video for the band’s global hit single, New Sensation – all thanks to LEGO® VIDIYO.
The music video, which premiered today, sees Baker Boy and The LEGO Group’s minifigure, Universal Music Group’s newly signed artist L.L.A.M.A, dance their way across Sydney, visiting the Sydney Opera House and other iconic landmarks along the way, dancing to INXS’s New Sensation. The music video comes to a peak in the final chorus of New Sensation with two of the original band members from INXS making a special guest appearance alongside the rapper and DJ L.L.A.M.A.
Fans inspired by Baker Boy and the New Sensation music video can take part in their very own dance challenge at home, with a dance tutorial led by Baker Boy available on Instagram @dabakerboy and via LEGO social channels.
L.L.A.M.A is the first LEGO minifigure signed to a record label and the first artist to release a song via VIDIYO, a playful and innovative music video maker experience, developed by LEGO in partnership with Universal Music Group, designed for children, aimed at celebrating and expanding their creativity and shared passion for music.
Angie Tutt, Senior Director, Head of Marketing at LEGO Australia & New Zealand, says: “VIDIYO helps children dream big by directing, producing, starring in, and safely sharing their own music videos. Through the creative power of LEGO and Universal Music Group, families and children can access artist tracks from across the globe in a new and innovative way.”
“VIDIYO is the kind of app I wish I had when I was a kid. I always loved dancing and performing, and something like this would have made my dreams feel more like a reality and help bring my creative visions to life,” Baker Boy said.
“I hope VIDIYO inspires kids across the country to dream big and know that with a little bit of dance, anything is possible.”
Global superstars INXS said the bands’ latest venture, exploring new opportunities in music video making, reflects the vision pioneering Chairman of Petrol Records, the late Chris ‘CM’ Murphy had for the band.
“INXS’s legacy has always encouraged and enjoyed playing to a wide demographic audience – which is why Chris wanted INXS to align our classic funk-rock song New Sensation with LEGO & Baker Boy, to continue to build our fanbase among today’s kids, helping to ensure the INXS name & music continues for generations to come. We hope to inspire the next generation of music makers to create, produce and star in their own music creations.” Jon Farriss said.
On signing with Universal Music Group’s Astralwerks, L.L.A.M.A said he was honoured to be on such a legendary label. “I’m constantly inspired by all of the artists on its roster. If I can make at least one person happy then my mission here is complete. The world needs a lift, and I’m up for being a part of that.”
L.L.A.M.A, whose name is an acronym for Love, Laughter And Music Always, is a global citizen. Originally from the Andean region of South America, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of making music that makes people happy.
