Germein

GERMEIN announce their first live gig since COVID-19 off the back of their Red Rover Virtual World Tour. Three sisters Georgia (guitar, keys), Ella (bass, electric cello), and Clara Germein (drums) will perform an exclusive intimate show live at The Gov, July 11 2020, to a limited audience of one hundred people.

The band were due to kick off their 2020 UK/Europe Tour in March, but due to current world events, the prospect of them hitting the road became impossible. Following the success of their Virtual World Tour powered by Live Nation broadcasted in over 29 countries live from The Gov, the girls are beyond excited to finally be able to perform to an audience in person, in their hometown. Germein answer some questions for Hi Fi Way ahead of tomorrow night’s show.

It must be exciting being able to perform back in your hometown Adelaide?
Yeah it’s very exciting to be able to play to a live audience again!

Has it been frustrating to lose momentum on what was going to be a massive year for Germein?
We had planned to head overseas to tour from March 2020 onwards, so it was definitely strange to have to push back our touring plans and find new and creative ways to connect with fans. Now more than ever people are tuning into online content, so it’s been a great chance to create projects like our ‘Sister Sessions’ as well as write and record new music. Even with the touring momentum on hold we are grateful to have amazing fans who continue to support us.

Have you been able to use the time to keep writing?
Definitely. Its been great having the time to write and explore new ideas, without the distractions of traveling and playing shows.

Do you think we’ll see a new album sooner than expected?
Watch this space! 😉

How did you find playing the Virtual World Tour?
It was an amazing opportunity to play to a whole new audience, as well as connect with our fans in different parts of the world without being able to physically be there in person. It’s unreal to think we can tour the world without leaving our hometown. We are so grateful to Live Nation for having us, and for everyone who tuned in! It was lots of fun!

Was it mind blowing knowing how many people you were playing to?
Yeah a little bit! It’s obviously quite different playing to a couple of camera people – compared to playing to a crowd of that many people when they are standing right in front of you and you can feel their energy – but the Virtual Tour was still very cool nonetheless!

It must have been a huge bonus knowing that people were really looking forward to seeing you play?
Absolutely!

Do you think there’s elements of the online world you’ll persist with once this health crisis passes?
Yeah definitely. It’s opened up new doors re-connecting more with our fans around the world, as well as collaborating with more artists on a regular basis.

What do you love about playing at The Gov?
It’s such an iconic Adelaide live music venue, with an amazing team of staff & production crew. We always feel so at home playing there.

What’s next for Germein?
We are heading into the studio next week to record some new music, so we are looking forward to sharing with everyone!
