Liam Gallagher “MTV Unplugged (Live At Hull City Hall)”

To borrow a descriptor of the great man Liam Gallagher this live release is “Biblical”! With two great solo albums to his credit Why Me? Why Not and As You Were this live offering MTV Unplugged (Live At Hull City Hall) ties together the last three years just nicely before seeing what comes next.

The crowd are as parochial as they come with the rapturous chants of “Liii-am! Liii-am!” right throughout and what the recording captures is the energy and the adulation for Gallagher as takes his die hard fans through a set of his own solo songs as well as some Oasis classics. It is a shame there wasn’t a live DVD to accompany this (worth a look at the clip on YouTube).

No doubt there is an element of settling the score after not appearing on Oasis’s “Unplugged” taping citing laryngitis and brother Noel saying “so you’re stuck with the ugly four.” Nevertheless, being a big fan of both albums this is a stellar addition to the collection and the splatter vinyl is one worth chasing.

No doubt there is an element of settling the score after not appearing on Oasis’s “Unplugged” taping back in 1996 citing laryngitis and brother Noel saying “so you’re stuck with the ugly four.” Nevertheless, being a big fan of both albums this is a stellar addition to the collection and the splatter vinyl is one worth chasing.

There’s some great solo unplugged gems including the likes of Wall Of Glass, Now That I’ve Found You, One Of Us but the pick of the bunch is Gone. There’s some great Oasis moments to with Stand By Me and Champagne Supernova. The captive audience well and truly comes alive during these Oasis classics. As the chants for more get vocal sadly that is the end which only gets me thinking about all the songs that could of got the Unplugged treatment. Biblical!
