NYC’s experimental electro maven, Mindchatter has released the entrancing video clip for his daring new single, Scared To Go Home. Thought provoking, vulnerable and oozing effortless cool, Scared To Go Home bends genres and will lure listeners in with an intoxicating, chilled magnetism – an exciting release for fans of Jamie XX, LCD Soundsystem and Bonobo. Mindchatter answers a few questions for Hi Fi Way.
How has the build-up been leading up to the release of the single?
I hadn’t put out any music in a full year so I was itching to get this one out. I knew it was kind of a curve ball for listeners of my music so I was very curious to see how they would react and in the end they seem to connect with it.
Was the process of making your single as challenging as you thought?
Every song is a challenge but this one came out pretty quickly. I can nitpick songs for months but since this one was so outside of what I’m used to making I just let it be.
Sonically, how would you describe your music?
Many genres happening at once.
Who would you consider to be the biggest influence on your music and why?
It’s hard to choose one because I draw influence from so many different places but I’m a big fan of LCD Soundsystem and that has probably seeped into my writing quite a bit.
Best piece of advice you have been given?
“Don’t passively listen to half finish tracks” Steve Duda
Are you looking to tour more broadly?
Yes, I’d love to make it down to Australia to play some shows sometime soon!
What’s next for Mindchatter?
I’m putting out an album soon as well as some singles, covers and remixes in the meantime 🙂
