Who is Ukulele Dream Girl?
Strumming her sweet melodic sounds on the ukulele Phi Theodoros or as she is known, Ukulele Dream Girl took us on a journey of self-empowerment and challenging the stereo types and expectations of a fast-paced modern world. We got to know who the Ukulele Dream Girl was in this intimate and charming show at The Bally in Gluttony.
A storyteller that shines a bright smile and plays a mean ukulele Theodoros mixed mainstream pop songs with some of her original tunes to highlight human struggles such as mental illness, depression, anxiety and the everchanging world we live in today. While not afraid to show a vulnerable side her song lyrics reflected her own life story giving us an insight on how she wants to make the world a better place.
Keeping us on our toes we were encouraged to participate in a three-part harmony for a few verses of Coolio’s Gangsta’s Paradise and if you’re ever curious what that song or No Doubt’s Just A Girl and yes, even the 4 Non Blondes What’s Up sounds like on a ukulele then you need to see this show!
Ending with her original song I Like Your Face the message is pretty clear. We rely so much on social media these days we need to get back to basics of personal face to face interaction and reconnect with that community spirit! Who is Ukulele Girl? makes you reflect on important issues and it’s a perfect blend of serious and fun.
