Gene Louis Presents “Jokes” At The Adelaide Fringe

Gene Louis continues to leave a lasting impression on comedy audiences with his irreverent, surreal, upbeat brand of stand-up comedy. A 2017 Raw Comedy State Finalist, having performed on booked comedy shows throughout Australia, Britain, Germany, The Netherlands and Eastern
Europe. Gene has opened for acts such as Greg Fleet, Luke Heggie, Georgie Carroll, Aaron Gocs and more. After performing in multiple Showcase and Split-bill Fringe shows, Gene returns to Adelaide Fringe to debut his first solo hour of stand-up comedy titled Gene Louis presents Jokes.

With Jokes Gene strives to polish and expand upon comedic elements, with hints of clowning, physicality, playing with narrative structure and time, the self referential, meta and audience incorporation, all on the through-line of time, relationships and life, under an umbrella of surrealism. Striving to regularly produce and deliver strong and consistent material, Gene also
produces and manages a number of comedy rooms in Adelaide. The most notable of these is Giggles Comedy, a staple in the Adelaide comedy scene, renown amongst Australian comedians.

An experimental show that runs every Wednesday in the basement of Rhino Room, the centre of stand-up comedy in Adelaide. Providing inclusive spaces for young and established comedians to thrive, Giggles has developed a cult following with Adelaide audiences, with Gene expanding his creative output as a performer and producer.

Gene Louis presents Jokes, is the manifestation of extensive performing and hard work, showcasing sardonic observations, absurd thoughts and versatile comedic stylings.
