Orianthi @ The Gov, Adelaide 28/7/2019

This wasn’t your ordinary, regular style of show, this was a home coming of sorts for Orianthi playing to a full house with family, friends, fans and music lovers wanting to see one of Adelaide finest rock the home of live music, The Gov. It was fantastic that Adelaide got to share this unique one off gig before her new album comes out later this year.
Orinathi has it all! Great guitarist, great songs, great sound and smouldering good looks and there is no doubt at all that the next six months will make for some exciting times with new music on the way. The first three songs got her set off to a flyer rocking out with What’s It Gonna Be, Think Like A Man and Frozen. Set staple Heaven In This Hell was brilliant followed by a newish song, How It Is which was co-written with Vanessa Amorosi. Early it was all about the music with Bad News and You Don’t Wanna Know to come.
Orianthi spoke about watching this young gun guitarist on Ellen on absolutely “shreds” and so much so she brought out Taj Farrant to join her on Filthy Blues. Memories last a life time and this would be one experience ten year old Taj will never forget. This kid can seriously play, whoa! Keeping that blues rock theme going on How Do You Sleep Orianthi spoke of her new music which she said that she wouldn’t be playing this time as this isn’t the way she wants the rest of the world to hear it on “crappy” iPhone footage uploaded to YouTube. A cover from her Believe album in Suffocated was a ripper and so was the Lenny Kravitz cover of Are You Gonna Go My Way.
The story behind Knocking Down The Door was really cool with Robby Krieger from The Doors coming around to her house to help finish off writing the chorus. It seems like six degrees of separation with the people she has met from Alice Cooper to jamming with Prince it has been quite the journey that Orianthi has been on. The main set finished with some big singles in Better With You and Courage. Returning for an encore it was the global chart smash hit single According To You which went down a treat bringing the set home with some Hendrix in Voodoo Chile with the band jamming it out one last time. It was a fantastic show made even better with the promise of returning for a full Australian tour when the album comes out later this year (stay tuned!). The show might have been over but backstage was getting started, full of family and friends celebrating the home coming of Adelaide’s own Orianthi.
