Hatchie Announces New Single, Album & Tour Dates

Ivy League Records are elated to announce that Brisbane artist Hatchie, aka Harriette Pilbeam, will release her highly anticipated debut album, Keepsake, on Friday, 21 June. Keepsake is available to pre-order now on digital, CD and vinyl formats.
To celebrate, Hatchie has revealed the gorgeous, industrial-leaning first single ‘Without A Blush’ alongside the video (directed by Joe Agius and premiered via NPR overnight), and announced May shows at Northcote Social Club (Melbourne), The Lansdowne (Sydney) and The Foundry (Brisbane). Tickets go on sale at 10.00am today.
Hatchie says, “I’m excited to start the next chapter of Hatchie with ‘Without A Blush’, the first single from my album Keepsake. It’s the perfect introduction to the feelings and sounds on the rest of the record, which I can’t wait to finally start sharing on tour!”
On lead single Without a Blush, jagged guitar riffs and woozy rhythms meet in a sprawling piece of industrial-pop, with Hatchie’s gorgeous airy vocal channelling loss and longing, regret and self-doubt. Elsewhere on Keepsake, Hatchie brings an unlikely transcendence to the tenderest of moments. Throughout the album, Hatchie’s kaleidoscopic sonic palette draws out distinct moods and tones, continually revealing her depth and imagination as a musician and songwriter.
Hatchie experiments with countless new textures on Keepsake, exploring everything from industrial to new wave to dance-pop, handling each with understated elegance and pure, powerful feeling. Teaming up once again with Sugar & Spice producer John Castle (Cub Sport, Vance Joy, Jack River) Keepsake was recorded in his studio in Melbourne’s north.
There’s a self-possessed spirit infusing all of Keepsake, which ultimately serves as a document of a particularly kinetic moment in Hatchie’s life. “I’m not much of a nostalgic person when it comes to memories, but I do have a tendency to hold on to certain things, like tickets from the first time I went someplace on holiday,” Hatchie says, reflecting on the album’s title.
“It made sense to me to call the record that, at a time when I’m going to probably end up with a lot of keepsakes – and in a way, this whole album is almost like a keepsake in itself.”
Ahead of her headline Australian tour this May, Hatchie will support Beach House, Death Cab for Cutie and Kylie Minogue in Australia and Girlpool in the US. Hatchie’s headline Australian shows will be her first since her sold-out 2018 Sugar & Spice EP tour.
