Nazeem Hussain “Basic Idiot”

Multi-award-nominated comedian NAZEEM HUSSAIN is rapidly becoming a household name with 2019 easily shaping up to be his best yet.

A new dad, and star and creator of the Seven Network’s latest hit sketch show, Orange Is The New Brown, Hussain’s profile sky rocketed after he placed 4th in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2017. Hussain now kicks off a 2019 national stand up tour of his brand-new show BASIC IDIOT at Adelaide Fringe on March 4, before taking it to Brisbane, Canberra, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now. For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: livenation.com.au.

It’s been a massive 12 months for Hussain. As well as becoming a first-time dad and debuting Orange Is The New Brown, 2019 will see his stand up special Nazeem Hussain: Public Frenemy premiere on NETFLIX as part of the streaming service’s unprecedented stand-up comedy event series. Nazeem was one of 47 comedians handpicked to perform a half-hour special which he filmed in July at Just For Laughs in Montreal. More importantly, he was also finally invited to speak at his high school assembly (Rex Hunt pulled out). But more than fatherhood itself, Nazeem is most excited about joking about these things AND MORE, in Basic Idiot at festivals around the country.

Hussain is a two-time Helpmann Award Best Comedy nominee, and has sold out shows across Australia, New Zealand, Edinburgh, London, China, Malaysia, Montreal and even Sri Lanka. He’s performed at the invitation-only Just For Laughs festival in Montreal, and twice at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and three times at London’s Soho Theatre. He is the star and creator two series of the critically acclaimed Logie-nominated Legally Brown (SBS) and has filmed two seasons as an official correspondent on hit Netflix science series, Bill Nye Saves The World. Hussain’s other TV credits include The Project (Ten), The Feed (SBS), ABC News Breakfast (ABC), and Q&A (ABC). His comedy podcast, Burn Your Passport, commissioned by ABC Radio launched in early 2017 and is ranked within the Top 20 most listened to Australian podcasts.

If you’ve never seen Nazeem, where have you been? Don’t miss his 5th consecutive solo show in 2019.
