The Rebeat EP is a tribute to one of Australia’s most loved and revered rock n roll bands, the Easybeats.  Featuring a five track lineup including Daniel Johns; who has assembled his Vivid LIVE band for a special one-off tribute under the name Boom Tish, KLP, The Bamboos featuring Montaigne, LDRU featuring Nicole Millar and San Cisco. KLP answers a few quick questions for Hi Fi Way: The Pop Chronicles about contributing the single Good Times to The Rebeat EP.

How was the experience of being involved with honouring an awesome band The Easybeats?
I grew up listening to a lot of music from that era so it was nice to be able to connect that all up and put my spin on such a classic.

Who and how were you approached to get involved?
I was approached by Heath Johns at BMG, a simple phone call goes a long way.

Was it challenging also working out how to put your own spin on this song?
Yeah I played around with a few different tempos to try and figure out a way to slow it down, and then somehow ended up with a layz disco groove.

Did you find that this recording process pushed you out of your comfort zone?
I record all vocals and mostly everything else in my home studio, so it’s always a pretty comfortable process because it’s my home! I can lock myself away form everyone and spend a whole day without moving, just getting lost on music making.

What does 2018 look like for KLP?
I just want to keep on focusing on the process of creating , making music, putting it out, playing shows… making mistakes and growing along the way.
