Augie March Announce New Album

AUGIE MARCH have unveiled details of their forthcoming new album BOOTIKINS (Caroline Australia), also revealing the album’s title track and captivating lyric video today.

BOOTIKINS represents another extraordinary chapter in the life of this acclaimed Australian group, as they prepare to release their sixth studio album.  Recorded between Hobart and Melbourne, it was produced by Tony Cohen, who came out of retirement to make good on a promise to himself to work with the band.  Following his sad passing, a final track was recorded with Cohen’s good friend John Olson at the helm, with the band, Robin Mai and Paul McKercher mixing the record between them.

The first single to be lifted from the album is euphoric title track Bootikins, a psychedelic extravaganza which displays all the passion, energy and drama that we’ve come to expect from Augie March in a blazing return to form.

Says Glenn Richards about the song’s inspiration, “The dynamic needed to match the manic nature of the words, the furious utterances, and the bloody rush of thought that occurs in the mind of any man who has dispensed with the rational or the compassionate in favour of the diabolical.  In that spirit I didn’t give contemplation much sway in the process and went largely with instinct.  It’s a very strange song for very strange times.”

The band will play the new album BOOTIKINS in full for the first ever occasion on album release day, Friday 23rd February, at the Velvet Room at Thornbury Theatre.  The audience will have the opportunity to watch and listen up close as Augie March road test this set of challenging and diverse material, and there’s sure to be a good deal of high level tinkering going on.  Not to mention low level chat.  Tickets HERE.

BOOTIKINS the album is available for pre-order NOW via Caroline Australia.
