Montaigne Announces ‘Glorious Heights’ 10 Year Anniversary Australian Tour
A decade on from the album that announced Montaigne as one of Australia’s most singular voices, the Sydney art-pop artist is hitting the road to celebrate 10 years of their award-winning debut, Glorious Heights.
Known for their theatrical vocals, sharp lyricism and genre-blending sound, Montaigne will perform the record in full this August for the first time, with a sprinkling of beloved tunes from other eras thrown in. It’s a national tour built to sing, dance, laugh and cry with fans old and new, and it’s their first in four years.
On the tour Montaigne comments, “It’s been a few years since I did a national tour and I’m really excited to bring my audience together once again to sing, laugh, and cry together, especially for these songs which are especially powerful in a communal setting. I’m so much more confident on stage now than I was 10 years ago and I can’t wait to bring an unfiltered, theatrical experience that hopefully inspires folks to feel free and expressive in their own lives.”
Released in 2016, Glorious Heights debuted at No. 4 on the ARIA Albums Chart and won the ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist, marking the arrival of a fearless new talent with a voice that could soar, snarl and shatter in equal measure. Ten years later, its songs still land with the same emotional force, and this tour is a chance to hear them the way they were meant to be heard, start to finish, in a room full of people who grew up with them.
This celebration comes off the back of a remarkable run. Since Glorious Heights, Montaigne has represented Australia at Eurovision, released music with the legendary David Byrne and become one of only a handful of Australian musicians nominated for a Grammy, for their work with acclaimed composer Austin Wintory on the musical video game Stray Gods.
In 2025 they released their first fully self-produced album, it’s hard to be a fish, earning nominations for the Australian Music Prize and the AIR Award for Best Independent Pop Album or EP. Their viral collaboration with Tom Cardy, Red Flags, has racked up more than 170 million views on YouTube, and a 31-date tour of Europe and the UK alongside collaborator Dadi Freyr took their live show to audiences across the world. Across collaborations with the Hilltop Hoods, Tom Cardy, Ninajirachi, Dadi Freyr and more, their music has been streamed hundreds of millions of times.
Grounded as a person but elevated as a performer, Montaigne is one of those rare artists whose talent on stage and off is matched by their ability to connect authentically with an audience, finding joy, humour and catharsis in every performance. Beyond the studio, they’re celebrated for their vivid visual aesthetic, candid online presence and advocacy for mental health and LGBTQIA+ communities.
