DMA’S Share New Single ‘Hurracane’
Following on from the announcement that their self-titled album is set for release later this year, DMA’S have given fans another taste of what’s to come with new single and video Hurracane.
Built on a soaring melody and emotional charge, Hurracane is quintessentially DMA’S; a guitar-led, anthemic classic with an immediate, memorable chorus.
Speaking on the new single, Matt Mason says “‘Hurracane’ has a recurrent musical motion that’s a nod to the song lyrically and we used the idea of a displacing storm to tell the story leaning into a style that we hadn’t recorded ourselves before.”
The self-titled album, released via Wonderlick Recording Company/Sony Music Australia/RCA UK, will also feature the previously released tracks My Baby’s Place and Heatin Park, which were both added to full rotation and reached #1 most played on triple j and have amassed nearly 2 million streams combined.
Written and recorded between their own studio in Glebe, Sydney and LA, this self-titled album represents a defining moment for the band, showcasing the evolution of their signature anthemic sound with fresh sonic textures.
It’s highlighted by the band co-producing most of the record with Grammy nominated producer Lach Bostock (Mansionair), with help from Jimi Somewhere and Styalz Fuego.
Renowned for their electrifying performances which has seen them play the world’s largest stages including Glastonbury, Coachella, Lollapalooza and Splendour in the Grass, DMA’S will bring the new album to life on their Australian headline tour later this year, kicking off in Brisbane on November 27 before heading to Melbourne and ending with a hometown show at the iconic Sydney Opera House Forecourt. For anyone who missed the one-off, sold out Hills End anniversary show in Sydney in March, the band will also play a special Hills End set in addition to playing the new tracks, and they’ll also throw in some of their cult classic hits. (2023), each landing towards the top end of the ARIA Top 10, and with the last 2 albums, THE GLOW and How Many Dreams? reaching #4 and #3 respectively on the UK album chart.
The band has accrued over 500 million streams across their catalogue, four multi-platinum singles, multiple ARIA Award nominations, including a win in 2023 for Best Group, and 13 songs in triple j’s coveted Hottest 100, highlighted by their Like A Version cover of Cher’s Believe, which topped the Hottest 100 Like A Versions of All Time in 2023.
