The Plot In You, Fit For A King, Boundaries, Banks Arcade @ Hindley Street Music Hall, Adelaide 23/1/2026

The Plot In You returned to Adelaide as part of a four band super bill giving fans plenty of value for money with bands of the calibre of Fit For A King, Boundaries and Banks Arcade along for the ride. Knowing the magnitude of this return visit it is of no surprise to see the line up before doors opening stretch well beyond Hindley Street and right up Morphett Street with tickets being completely sold out months in advance. No doubt they would have sold even more if the venue had been upgraded but nevertheless this was another incredible gig with all four bands bringing their A-game.

Opening up was Banks Arcade who even on the descriptor on their Instagram page says “NZ Heavy Metal Boy Band”. There is no doubt after this performance they will shake that tag playing all new material bar one song that will catapult the band in a whole new direction marking an new evolution for this band. I’d go as far to say watch out, 2026 is the year of Banks Arcade. It is a ballsy move to play predominantly all new material but hells bells this was freaking good. If this is a taste of what’s to come there is plenty of reasons to get excited. Even front man Joshua O’Donnell said to “forget everything you know, everything you have heard”. Vipers and Sentimental were great finishing on fan favourite Roulette.

Boundaries hit the ground running hard with a set full of fire and brimstone for the next forty minutes. With the air raid sirens sounding they stormed the stage playing a turbo charged set going hard right from first drop with Turn Your Hate To Rage. “If you’re having fun, bang your head” was the sentiments echoed by the band. The crowd did more than that with a mosh of bodies that were encouraged to “crowd surf the fuck up here!” Much to the surprise of fans was a guest cameo from Bodysnatcher’s Kyle Medina who rushed over before his set supporting Fit For An Autopsy at Lion Arts Factory. The intent and endeavour of the band could not be faulted lifting the collective spirits of the band. Set highlights include Scars On A Soul, Darkness Shared, Realize and Rebuild and set closer Easily Erased.

Fit For A King stepped up to the plate making up for lost time since their last Adelaide appearance in 2014. Literally picking up from where Boundaries left off they kicked up that intensity where the crowd surfers were in a state of bliss keeping security busy down front and a number of circle pits formed making quite the spectacle. “Adelaide, make some noise,” were the words proclaimed by vocalist Ryan Kirby ripping through Begin The Sacrifice and No Tomorrow. Backbreaker was awesome followed by Kirby doing a quick poll of who had seen them before and was pleasantly surprised with how many first timers there were suggesting “that’s the way we like it”. Between Us offered a subtle contrast to take a slight breather with Kirby asking the crowd to turn their lights on. Picking up the energy on Secret Secrets they ploughed through the remainder of their set When Everything Means Nothing. I have a sneaky suspicion that a return visit might be on the cards sooner than later given how much Adelaide them.

It was the moment that we had all been waiting for with The Plot In You returning to Adelaide. Nothing short of outstanding and they have well and truly consolidated their spot in the upper echelons of the genre. Everything in this production was really well done and something to remember. The lighting, the camouflaged pillars, the radio static recreated this combat scene that added great affect. Don’t Look Away was first then drawing a response from Landon Tewers saying “is this a funeral? Move this shit!” The crowd responded on Divide which was followed by Pretend and Paradigm. Tewers didn’t say much but when he did he had the hearts and minds of the faithful. They played with such power and precision which was awesome to watch highlighted by THE ONE YOU LOVED. Absolute class.

Face Me was spruiked as “this one bangs” which could also be said of NOT JUST BREATHING. Tewers did ask who had been keeping up with the Volumes going with Been Here Before from Vol. 3. Silence was literally golden with Tewers taking up a spot on the platform that a comfy lounge chair and lamp to play acoustic for starters before the rest of the band took hold of this one. Forgotten, Spare Me, Closure… the set list was loaded with great songs. Tewers thanked the crowd saying how much he appreciated them and that there would not be an encore with the fans making the most of it Left Behind and FEEL NOTHING.

Four great bands, one great night out! We look forward to what’s next for all these bands.
