Molly Rocket Release New Single, ‘When He Walks Around’& Announce Forthcoming EP ‘The Dogs Are Barking’
South Australian alt-rockers Molly Rocket are seeing Aus Music Month out with a bang, delivering a bright and punchy new number titled When He Walks Around. A fresh take on the gritty goodness of the 90s grunge scene, the track sees Molly Rocket dealing out their tightest performance to date, fresh off the tail of their triumphant arena support slot for rock legends Grinspoon earlier this month.
“‘When He Walks Around’ is a vibrant catchy feel-good rock song inspired by the Celebrity Skin-
era of grunge icons Hole as well as the many girl-lead groups of that time. The song captures the thrill of meeting someone who completely changes your world- and the fear that often comes with that shift.” MOLLY ROCKET
An unorthodox love song of sorts, When He Walks Around uncovers the journey from first connection and distant infatuation, to something that is raw and real;
“Lyrically, it follows a journey of infatuation with a stranger, through uncertainty, and ultimately to
full acceptance of who that person is. The chorus becomes an anthem for embracing love,
imperfections and all, within a chaotic world.” MOLLY ROCKET
Recorded with Tim Maxwell (LOSER) at Melbourne’s Wrangler Studios, the When He Walks Around possesses a sincerity, and a sense of innocence through its themes and lyrical style, drawing the listener in to feel as though they themselves are a part of the narrative. The track arrives alongside the announcement of Molly Rocket’s forthcoming sophomore EP, The Dogs Are Barking, which is due in early 2026.
Since making their debut just four years ago, Molly Rocket have earned themselves an array of nominations at the South Australian Music Awards (‘Best Rock Artist’, ‘Best Song’, ‘Best Release’, ‘Best New Artist’, ‘Best Group’), while building their reputation as an outstanding live band through headline performances and opening slots for artists such as Grinspoon, Bean Magazine, Teenage Joans, Press Club, King Stingray, Ocean Grove and more.
In December, the band is set to support Oz-rock legends Gyroscope and Magic Dirt. Following this up with support duties for DZ Deathrays on their Easing Out Of Control tour in January 2026, Molly Rocket will then be undertaking their own headline tour from March. With stops in Melbourne, Sydney, Wollongong, and of course their home city of Adelaide, this run of shows from Molly Rocket is one that you won’t want to miss.
