Knosis On Tour With Void Of Vision…
The brainchild of Japanese multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Ryo Kinoshita, KNOSIS grips with hard-hitting lyricism and razor-sharp delivery, channeling Kinoshita’s internal battles into magnetic sonic creations. With songs written to reflect the pure emotional essence of pain and loneliness, KNOSIS collides everything from metal riffs through to hardcore breakdowns, simultaneously sparking listeners to smash their PBs in the gym while also offering an emotional journey to uplift and inspire against the odds. Ryo talks briefly with Hi Fi Way about the tour with Void Of Vision.
Are you excited and looking forward to your very first Australian tour?
Yeah, I’m so excited. We toured with them like two years ago on the Stray From The Path headline tour. They’re super nice guys, and we hang out a lot. Then Jack said, hey, let’s tour!
How would you describe the music of Knosis?
Experimental metalcore, it’s not actually like experimental music, you know what I mean?
It’s hard to explain in, I tried a lot of things like a chemistry class, like put metal in, put hardcore in and a lot of other elements and just do whatever I want to with whatever I mix together.
Who are some of your music heroes you look up to for inspiration?
What inspired the band Knosis is the band Muse, in particular singer and guitarist Matt Bellamy, the singer guitarist is my like, like hero, like, uh, as a vocalist and as a guitarist. I have only seen them play once before at a festival here in Japan, they were so sick.
Do you prefer playing festivals or your own headline shows?
Actually, I prefer playing club shows because I can be up close to the crowd playing more of an intimate show. It’s fun to yell in the faces of the crowd!
How was it collaborating on the single FUHAI last year with HANABIE?
Oh, yeah, the reaction was really good. HANABIE. is one of the now bands at the moment and Yukina is a great singer. She can scream, she can sing and she can rap. I just didn’t want her to do just regular things but make it more experimental.
Are you working on an album or another EP?
Yeah, we’re releasing our first album this year, maybe in the spring.
How’s that going so far?
The production is finished, I’m so stoked to be able to let you guys hear it soon.
Are you playing many of those new songs on this tour coming up?
Oh, maybe before the release of the album, we will release a single maybe from the album.
What are you looking forward to most about touring Australia?
I’m so excited to go back to your beautiful country, see all the nature, nice people, nice foods and I can’t wait to see koalas again. They’re the, one of the most adorable animals in the world.
