Ceres On Tour This February Through March
Ceres stunning new album MAGIC MOUNTAIN (1996—2022) is officially out now via Civilians. To celebrate their new record, five years in the making, Ceres have announced an Australian headline tour for February and March 2025! Joining them will be fellow Melbourne duo Armlock.
Taking Ceres to a few places for the first time in over half a decade, the tour kicks off at Altar in Hobart on February 22 before crisscrossing the rest of the country with stops in Adelaide, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane then winding up with a hometown show in Melbourne on March 14.
Engineered and mixed by Joel Taylor, and compositionally aided by Tom Bromley of Los Campesinos! fame, MAGIC MOUNTAIN (1996—2022) is a sprawling double album that spans singer/songwriter Tom Lanyon’s deeply personal journey of rediscovery, nostalgia, patience, heartache and joy. From his move back to his roots atop Melbourne’s Mt. Dandenong to his agonising journey through a four-year battle to conceive a child, the agony and heartache of a miscarriage, the life-affirming joy of pregnancy and parenthood finally realised.
On the album, Lanyon says: “A record of nostalgia, a record of melancholy. A record of loss, and a record of hope. 26 years of my life, laid out in a row. Didn’t want it to be this long, but it had to be. I’ve learnt the hard way you’ve just got to start climbing to get to the top. It’s worth it, trust me. You should see the view from up here.”
Ceres’ deeply meaningful live shows are part of Australian music lore. Each and every one is the best night of someone’s life, a real “remember when we saw” core event spoken about with profound reverence, and the reason why the band can sell out a hometown in a matter of hours via a secret password. Come and experience the peaks and valleys of the Magic Mountain when the tour arrives in 2025.
