Sam Fender Drops New Album ‘People Watching’ Next Month

Sam Fender is pleased to share his first new music from his forthcoming third album, People Watching, released on 21st February 2025 via Polydor Records.

To introduce the new record, Fender shares its title track with all the hallmarks of a true anthem. It’s the sound of an artist landing squarely on what makes music so joyous and emotionally resonant. It was produced in Los Angeles alongside The War on Drugs’ Adam Granduciel.

The song was written for his late friend and mentor, Annie Orwin, and is based on Sam’s thoughts as he travelled to and from her palliative care home.

People Watching is undeniable. A song with heart, soul, and a euphoria of feeling penned by a British musician whose observations on life as he experiences them have already taken him to headlining Summer festivals (Reading & Leeds, Boardmasters), selling out stadiums, and becoming a bonafide household name. With the instant sell-out of his UK arena tour next month (140,000+ tickets), Sam takes another mighty leap forward into whatever comes next.

The album cover photograph was shot by the renowned social documentary photographer Tish Murtha, who grew up in South Shields and documented marginalised communities and working-class life in Newcastle upon Tyne.

If Seventeen Going Under was Sam’s “coming of age” record, People Watching is his next step forward – colourful stories and observations of everyday characters living their everyday, but often extraordinary, lives.
