At The Movies: CatVideoFest 2024
Well, I just watched seventy five minutes of ‘home videos’ taken by loving cat owners – and there were probably close to two hundred of them! This is basically a montage of the types of videos people post on social media platforms of antics their beloved feline has performed.
CatVideoFest started in 2019 so this I its sixth season. It only screens for four days from October 17-20, then it’s done for another year. Participating cinemas (listed below) donate a portion of box office takings to their designated animal shelter or Animal Welfare League.
The movie was split into sections – for example, assorted general videos followed by “Cat GIFs”, though I couldn’t see much difference in those categories. Then we had some mini-Documentaries followed by Musical Cats. The latter had some really cute and funny videos which brought a smile to my face.
The Cat GIFs were backed by some incredibly annoying looped “music”, so when the heading came up “More GIFs” I had to mute the sound until the next section started – though you won’t have the luxury of being able to do that in the cinema.
I am a dog lover and not particularly keen on cats. Given that, there were some pretty cute videos and cats amongst the montage and cat lovers will have a field day! If you take the kids, they will absolutely love some of the cat antics.
