Dune Rats + FIDLAR Drop Surprise Collab Single…
Hot on the heels of Dune Rats fifth studio album If It Sucks, Turn It Up, the guys couldn’t resist recording a new song with good mates and Australian tour partners FIDLAR. Dead, Rich or In Jail, a 1 minute 35 second whack over the back of the head, is the perfect soundtrack for what fans can expect from the two bands on their Australian tour, kicking off last night in Jindabyne.
Dune Rats said: “It’s our first time since The Kids Will Know It’s Bullshit collaborating with Zac from FIDLAR which was awesome to do again. We drew inspiration from that mate everyone has who’ll either end up dead, rich or in jail…..for us that friends name is Felix. It’s also the first time we’ve recorded a track entirely in our own studios, and is definitely the shape of Dunies to come. Psyched to play it on tour yew!”
The album is Dune Rats most adventurous musical statement yet. It finds them evolving their sound and honing their melodic instincts across a diverse range of styles, all delivered with the energy and infectious humour that is unmistakably Dunies.
“We wanted to make an album that throws you around a bit, like you are being washed around in the surf,” Dune Rats singer and guitarist Danny Beus says. “We’re five albums in now so we knew it should be a record that shows all the different sides to the band.”
Featuring the full throttle Be Like You, the hypnotic Solar Eyes and the eclectic smorgasbord that is Cheapskate paving the way, the title track and album opener If It Sucks, Turn It Up, sets the album up perfectly with it’s full tilt punk rock spirit.
Kicking off last night at The Station in Jindabyne, Dune Rats and FIDLAR begin what’s been touted as the ultimate transpacific matefest. The shows have been selling like the preverbial hotcakes and along with the addition of New Zealand band DARTZ and New South Wales punksters The Pingers, these shows won’t want to be missed.
“The FIDLAR / DUNIES relationship has honestly been a touring brotherhood that has seen us ping pong all over the world. It’s been the best part of a decade playing shows together that started when they first came to Australia doing venues half the size of the ones we are playing on this tour. Can’t wait to show them how crazy it is to play in Australia this time round.” – DUNE RATS
