Australian Motley Crue Show @ Woodshed, Royal Park SA 16/3/2024
Adelaide’s Woodshed is arguably the finest establishment that is specifically for rock and metal in Australia. A homage to guitar gods, superb singers and brilliant bands, every detail is lovingly crafted to create a musical Mecca of metal.
Tonight, the venue hosts The Australian Motley Crue Show. The show sold out and as each passing week more and more shows are performed here, the venue sells out accordingly.
I take my seat, a crafted bar stool with the venues logo on it in front of a Guns ‘n Roses pinball machine, and watch the show. And what a show.
They don’t have the dancing girls, or the 360 degree drum kit but they do have the songs and let’s call it early, a vocalist who can actually sing.
Playing two sets of solid Crue covers starting with All In The Name Of… and Looks That Kill, the band are note perfect, and the venue is alive with the sounds of glam metal.
The venues sound is actually really great, the acoustics lending to space between the instruments to get the vibe of the songs. The selection of beers wild and wonderful however I’m partial to a good ginger beer and this one is heaven to my parched lips.
Live Wire and Home Sweet Home bring home the first set, a quick breather and chat, an opportunity to find another piece of memorabilia on the walls not seen before, it’s like a museum for adults. Or Teenage kicks.
Second set opens with Too Fast For Love and Girls, Girls, Girls and the crowd continue to sing and dance along, the band creating a party ambience as the Mick Mars clone shreds through another epic solo.
Smokin’ In The Boys Room complete with harmonica, the ballad Without You and then that groove of Dr Feelgood all sound better than the original band. Then it’s Kickstart My Heart as the heat rises.
The Woodshed is getting more shows with every week, the stage set for ample viewing positions, the sound crystal clear. The venues staff are cheerful, knowledgeable and always welcome you with a smile. A wide selection of beverages are available, and not just normal ones, there’s banana and jam flavours among them if that’s your, well, jam.
Another great event held by the Woodshed, another great show by the Australian Motley Crue show.
