Beddy Rays Release New Single ‘Silverline’
Gearing up for their biggest year yet, Brisbane four-piece Beddy Rays return with their first release of 2024 and brand new single Silverline. To mark the occasion, Beddy Rays have also released a very early 2000’s inspired official video clip.
Written on the road whilst on tour in the UK and drawing a lot of inspiration from the local scene, Silverline delves into a new sound we’ve yet to hear from the band. Teaming up with UK producer Tarek Musa (Gengahr, Circa Waves, Spring King) and with the help of a few borrowed instruments from UK indie royalty The Wombats, the brit-rock influences really shine through on Silverline, and as the band explain “this tune brings new sounds the fellas have never explored and packs a punch worth copping.” On the meaning of the song, frontman Jack Van Issum explains “the song touches on the complexity and uncertainty that comes along with touring and relationships”.
To go with the new single, the Brisbane locals have a very 2000s brit-rock esque video clip for Silverline. Bright visuals are layered over each other like cut out magazine clippings with the lyrics playing out on the screen throughout the video clip. “To us, the song really captures that classic Brit Rock/UK inspiration from our time over there and working with UK producer Tarek Musa” Beddy Rays explain. “We really wanted to emulate the same formula used in videos like ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’ (Jet) and ‘Karma Seeker’ (Vant) and thought this would be a great way to do it.” Working with videographer Luke Dunning (Umbrella Creative) to really bring their vision to life, the band also called on local animator Nevenko Kosarunic who added amazing visuals and colouring over the top to really bring the video to life.
