Daz Cadwallander Releases New Single ‘I Feel Alive’

Daz Cadwallander is a rising singer-songwriter from Bolton on Dearne, Sheffield, who with this track has provided a change of pace and direction from his usual trademark indie rock tunes. His current single I Feel Alive has been well received and is gaining widespread attention in the UK and abroad. Career highlights include headline shows at The Leadmill O2 Academy Sheffield, Tramlines Festival, support slots with Tom Hingley of Inspiral Carpets, The Sherlocks, Reverend and The Makers’ acoustic album launch at Meadowhall Sheffield earlier this year, and many other live performance and festival appearances. Daz gives Hi Fi Way some insight in to his music.

Congratulations on the single I Feel Alive, have you been stoked with the reaction to it?
I’ve been blown away. It’s created a new wave of fans. The song is different to my other releases so it’s produced a different dynamic in terms of listeners and followers.

What’s the story behind the single?
The song is about falling for someone and thinking they were everything you ever dreamed of. Then getting to know them see red flags and how things can then turn toxic and damaging.

Sonically, do you think your sound has changed much between singles?|
Yes 100%, every single has been different up to now and live we have a different sound also with songs we are yet to release which are far more rock / heavy indie tracks which we are really really excited about getting recorded and released.

Is the plan to consolidate all these singles on an album?
One or two of these tracks will be on an album but the majority will be songs you’ve probably only heard if you’ve seen us live. I have a catalog of around 40 songs which we are yet to integrate into the full band / or play acoustic.

Does the creative process come easily to you?
Bizarrely, yes. I’ve never had a music lesson, singing lesson, guitar lesson or song writing session in my life but when I’m in a certain frame of mind and mindset I tune in to lyrics / how I want to write a song and it comes naturally to me.

Who are some of your biggest musical heroes?
Historic names are artists and bands such as Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits / Mark Knopfler, Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Tracy Chapman. Current and more recent artists and bands are Oasis, The Verve, The Stone Roses, Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg, Paolo Nutini and Sam Fender. Musical heroes would be Lindsey Buckingham, Mark Knopfler, Alex Turner, Sam Fender

How was the tour with The Sherlocks?
Amazing. They’re a great bunch of lads. Strange how things come full circle, with me and the Sherlock lads Brandon and Kiaran growing up on the same street in Bolton upon Dearne. The crowds were phenomenal and plenty of The Sherlocks army took a liking to my music and have started following my journey.

Are there plans to tour overseas and possibly Australia?
Yes, hopefully within the next three years. This would be a long term goal / dream and something we’re working towards.

What’s next for Daz Cadwallander?
New music, New music, New music. Bigger fan base. Perform some of our biggest gigs to date back end of 2023. Headline and sell out The Leadmill in Feb 2024. Set us up for an Amazing year next year with some festival slots.
