Yours Truly On Tour With Unify Off The Record
The producers of Unify Gathering proudly announce Unify Off The Record 2023. Hitting Mackay, Adelaide, Wollongong, Hobart and Frankston, Unify Off The Record 2023 features a diverse line up of Australia’s premiere heavy acts including ARIA chart topping Northlane, Thy Art Is Murder, Thornhill, Make Them Suffer, Teenage Joans, In Hearts Wake, Alpha Wolf, Ocean Grove, Yours Truly, Void Of Vision, Redhook and more. Since 2015, UNIFY Gathering has been a staple of the annual heavy music calendar, taking place during 7 of the past 8 years and bringing a diverse roster of local and international acts that celebrate heavy music to Gippsland Victoria.
In 2023, UNIFY will pivot to a series of small club shows across five states, with each date featuring a different lineup made up of acts from around the country, including one international in American deathcore band Fit For An Autopsy. The NSW, VIC and SA legs will be run like miniature festivals with 8-10 band lineups, and all five events will include pop up stores, artist signings and workshops before and after doors, with the aim to bring as much of UNIFY on the road as is possible.
One of the bands we are looking forward to seeing at Unify Off The Record is Yours Truly. Mikaila Delgado answers a few questions about the tour.
How excited are you about playing Unify Off The Record?
We’re very excited for Unify Off The Record, last time we played a show in Australia was in December so we’ve been waiting to do it again! It’s going to be great to play alongside so many friends!
Apart from Yours Truly who else should we be excited about seeing?
I’m excited to see Teenage Joans kill their Adelaide headline, I think they are gonna smash it!
Do you have a preference about your own headline show or a festival styled line up?
I love both for different reasons! Festivals are great because you get to play your set and it feels so great knowing people chose to come watch. Then you can run around for the rest of the day and catch a bunch of different sets! The energy of a headline is unmatched though, and it can be however you want it to look and feel. It feels more intimate.
What are some of the essential items on the Yours Truly rider?|
Electrolyte drinks has been the new addition! We’re trying to take care of ourselves these days! We do so much more touring now, so we need to stay as healthy and energised as possible! We got to have cookies on there though haha
Has there been much debate about the set list for this tour?
No actually! We played around with the set during the tour we’re currently on (supporting against the current and trophy eyes in America) and I think after a couple of changes we found something that feels right. So we’re gonna do that!
How challenging has it been with two founding members leaving or are you excited about the new possibilities that might create?
It’s a bittersweet feeling. That era of Yours Truly is over, whether we wanted to part ways with it or not. I think it pushes Teddie and I to be more creative and think bigger now we have somewhat of a new beginning. We’ve worked super hard so knowing we’re both in 100% allows us to push even harder then we have before.
Who will be stepping into the vacant positions and what will they bring to the band?
Teddie and I started Yours Truly. We are Yours Truly.
How was it collaborating with Redhook on the single Imposter?
Amazing, Emmy and I were friends before the collaboration and it made us so much closer. We both went through a lot of the same stuff so being able to help tell her story whilst being genuine myself was super rewarding. I love the song and am glad to be a part of it.
Have you started working or thinking about new material?
We have! It’s super exciting and we’ve got some songs that I’m in love with. I can’t wait to share them
Beyond these dates what’s next for Yours Truly?
Working on new music 🙂 We’ve toured a bunch, we need some new songs for the set list.
