Michael Franti has been touring Australia for thirty years, and first appeared at Bluesfest in 2002 where he secured himself as a festival favourite.

Franti has earned three Billboard No. 1’s with triumphantly hopeful hits Sound of Sunshine, Say Hey (I Love You) and I Got You. Not to mention his six Top 30 Hot AC singles, 10 Top 25 AAA Singles and three Billboard Top 5 Rock Albums.

The globally recognized musician, humanitarian, activist and award-winning filmmaker is revered for his inspiring music, worldwide philanthropic efforts, and his devotion to wellness and optimism.

His 2020 hit I Got You, landed on NPR’s “Most Popular Songs of 2020,” and the music video boasts over 1 million views since its release.

For the Melbourne and Sydney shows, concert goers will be treated to a double bill with Trombone Shorty, the GRAMMY-winning New Orleans phenom, and his band Orleans Avenue.

Trombone Shorty who, when prowling a stage with his band Orleans Avenue, taps into a raw power to deliver explosive performances that blur the lines between funk, soul, R&B, and psychedelic rock.

As he and his band balance technical virtuosity and emotional release in equal measure, everyone in earshot will celebrate music’s primal power.

Festival Director, Peter Noble OAM said “Seeing Michael Franti & Spearhead in concert is something you’ll never forget. His conscious, uplifting music fills your soul and makes things better”.

“Michael and his band are part of the Bluesfest family and we’re so happy to be able to spread the Franti love around Australia with his upcoming tour to Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Cairns”.

“Trombone Shorty is nothing short of sensational. To put him in perspective, the New Orleans Jazz Festival is one of the biggest festivals in the world, and Trombone Shorty is now the closing act.”

“If there was ever a show that would get you up dancing, this is it!”, Peter Noble OAM said.
