Tkay Maidza Announced As Dua Lipa Australian Tour Support

ARIA winner & BET-nominated artist, Tkay Maidza reveals that she will support Dua Lipa on the forthcoming Australian leg of her Future Nostalgia stadium tour in November 2022. Having spent the better part of the past year touring the globe, the Zimbabwe-born, LA-via-Adelaide based rapper celebrates the news with the release of a remix of High Beams by longtime collaborator JPEGMAFIA, out now via 4AD/Dew Process.
Launching in Auckland, New Zealand on November 2, Tkay Maidza will join global pop icon Dua Lipa on her Australian and New Zealand tour. The multi-date run will see Maidza perform to stadium-sized crowds across Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, hometown Adelaide and Perth. The rapper will close the year out with a mammoth set of festival appearances at Meredith Music Festival, Beyond The Valley, Field Day and Wildlands Festival.
US-hybrid rapper, producer and hip-hop artist, JPEGMAFIA adds a filtered-down rinse and repeat of High Beams, that first appeared on Maidza’s Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 3 EP released in late 2021. A myriad of influences jump out through JPEGMAFIA’s snarling and snappy verse, adding to the ever-commanding presence and cool efforts of Maidza.
Produced by long-time collaborator Dan Farber, Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 3 represented the culmination of a 3-year-long, 24 song-strong exploration of Maidza’s own Zimbabwean-Australian experience, and an evolution to fully realising and embracing her artistic versatility spanning everything from pop to trap, hip-hop and alt-R&B. Exuding confidence and sophisticated soundscapes, the EP gained applause from PAPER, FADER, Nylon, i-D, MTV, NME, Pedestrian.TV, Rolling Stone and more, and won the ARIA Award for Best Soul/R&B Release at the 2021 ceremony.
Enjoy the clever and highly-charged take from Tkay Maidza and JPEGMAFIA, ahead of seeing Tkay commanding a stage near you this summer.
