Shadow Bones On A Monumental 2022

Singer-songwriter Shadow Bones has had a monumental 2022. This year has seen the release of his debut album, now with attention focused on forth coming single In Another Life following the brilliant success of debut single Better View and positively received Over and Out and Only A Dream.
In a twenty-year long career as a songwriter in touring bands, Luke Williams has turned some serious industry heads, including consistent support from BBC Introducing and mentions in the likes of CLASH.
The pandemic brought major change, and saw the birth of Shadow Bones – his first solo project. Having played to audiences of 30,000 and finding international success, the lockdowns gave an opportunity to reflect on his past accomplishments and former rock star lifestyle as he confronted his demons. Luke answers a few questions about his debut album for Hi Fi Way.
How was the build up to your new single Only A Dream?
The build up was quite long as this all started in lockdown. I had a few unofficial releases before and teasers to gain interest.
Was the process of making the single as challenging as you thought?
The process was really straightforward. Everybody recorded their parts in their home studios and then sent everything to the producer to mix and master.
How much pressure is there with your debut single in trying to craft something that best represents you?
A lot of pressure, the first one is always so important, especially and it’s generally the most eagerly anticipated. For me though there’s lots of different flavours to the album, which I tried to show through each single.
Sonically, how would you describe your music?
Indie / Americana Blues Rock with an original quality.
Who would you consider to be the biggest influence on your music and why?
Musical accompaniment wise, Tom Petty is a huge influence, but song writing I draw influence from lots of different artists.
Best piece of advice you have been given?
Rick Witter from shed seven once said to me, “do what you love and if people don’t like it then f*#@ them.
Are there plans for more new music, possibly an album this year?
I have released a fourth single called In Another Life. This is the same title as my debut album which will be released towards the end of the year.
Are there plans to tour more broadly this year?
Not necessarily tour but certainly gig more broadly next year, especially in the festival circuit. What’s next is the last remaining gig dates of the year and one more single which is the title track from my debut album, In Another Life, released on October 28.
