VALO Adelaide 500 Announce Amy Shark And Something For Kate As Sunday Night Concert Special Guests

The VALO Adelaide 500 after race concert series is set to fire on all cylinders with the announcement of the special guest artists for the Sunday night concert. Joining US rock band, THE KILLERS who headline the mainstage on Sunday December 4, are Australian singer-songwriter AMY SHARK and eternally loved alternative rockers SOMETHING FOR KATE.
Amy Shark became a household name in 2016 with the release of her breakout hit, the 6 x Platinum single Adore, putting her on the map as one of Australia’s most formidable songwriters. Two more mega hits followed – I Said Hi and Mess Her Up, all three singles taken from Amy’s debut album Love Monster. Love Monster, released in July 2018, became a #1 ARIA album with Platinum-certified sales and the same year was recognised with four ARIA Awards and was nominated for another five. Love Monster went on to become the highest selling album by an Australian artist for 2018. With her career skyrocketing, Amy was the first Australian artist to be crowned as the Apple Up Next Artist, covering billboards in the US, and performing on US TV for Jimmy Fallon, James Cordon and Colbert, touring the US multiple times and winning fans right across the country. Since 2020, Amy’s recording success has continued with the release of her sophomore album, CRY FOREVER and collaboration with artists such as blink-182’s Travis Barker, global superstar Ed Sheeran and Keith Urban.
Today Amy Shark has an incredible 977 million combined global streams.
No stranger to the big stage having picked up the 2020 ARIA Award for Best Live Australian Act, of returning to Adelaide to play on the 500 mainstage Amy Shark said, “I can’t think of a better way to close out my year of touring, than coming back to South Australia to perform on the final night at the VALO Adelaide 500.”
Something For Kate’s three-piece line-up of Paul Dempsey, Stephanie Ashworth, and Clint Hyndman, occupy a unique place in Australia’s musical landscape where the band have been a household name for more than 20 years. Their particular brand of guitar-based science-fiction folk-rock has amassed a massive cult-like following. Something For Kate have achieved five Top 10 platinum and gold selling albums, have won multiple Best Band, Best Album and Best Male Vocalist awards, and have toured with everyone from David Bowie to Death Cab For Cutie. They continue to make intelligent, beautiful, and original records.
“We always love coming to play in Adelaide and we are especially excited to be a part of this huge event with this incredible line-up of bands,” said Something For Kate’s frontman, Paul Dempsey.
VALO Adelaide 500’s Event and Concert Manager Brian Gleeson OAM said, “This year’s after race concert series is receiving a tremendous boost with the addition of two of Australia’s premier live acts announced as special guests for Sunday December 4 joining The Killers. Amy Shark and Something For Kate bring electric performances to every concert stage and we are thrilled to have them in Adelaide for this event.”
