Ever Go To A Gig At UniBar Back IN THE DAY?

To mark their induction into the SA Music Hall of Fame UniBar is throwing a two-stage festival that conjures memories of the iconic O’Ball and Indyfest line-ups of the 90’s and 00’s.

  • THE MARK OF CAIN | 28 DAYS (VIC)
  • (A-Z) CAREER GIRLS
  • DAN & JOEL CRANNITCH (Pharaohs/Leader Cheetah)
  • DAVE JOHNSTONE (Ammonia)
  • LAZARO’S DOG
  • LESSIE DOES
  • SNAP TO ZERO + DJ DRILLER & Host DAVID PENBERTHY

Plus special guests to be announced

For the past 50 years (since 1972), UniBar at the University of Adelaide has been pulling pints of Coopers and hosting live original music. Finally the venue, which now resides on the ground floor of Union House, is being recognised for its immense contribution to live music culture of South Australia by being inducted into the SA Music Hall of Fame.

UniBar has a storied history having hosted 1000’s of bands from accross the country and world, the likes of Silverchair, Blink 182, Violent Soho, Pownerfinger, Parkway Drive, Tash Sultana, Dune Rats and You Am I (to name very few).

The current custodians have been operating the venue since 2019 following a physical transformation of the space to modernise it and allow increased versatility with its license spilling into the Cloisters and lawns.

IN THE DAY is a celebration of all things UniBar and will champion performances and one-off reformations by some of UniBar’s favourites. It will also include panel discussions on stage with members of the bands and UniBar teams of yore recounting some of the best ale-drenched tales from back “in the day”.

IN THE DAY is the labour-of-love-child of UniBar’s former booker Sacha Sewell (El Dorado Music) and current booker Gareth Lewis (General Admission Entertainment). Part proceeds of every ticket will go directly to the SA Music Hall of Fame to support the important work they do in recognising the contribution to music, of SA artists and venues.

The massive lineup for the festival is headlined by (also recently Hall of Fame inducted) The Mark of Cain alongside Melbourne punks and UniBar frequent flyers 28 Days. Also announced today on the bill is Andrew P. Street’s Career Girls, Dan & Joel Crannitch (Pharaohs/Leader Cheetah), Dave Johnstone from Ammonia (yes, remember the 90’s uber-hit Drugs?), Hottest 100 2001 Home Entertainment System hitmakers Lazaro’s Dog, pop-punks Lessie Does and a very special, very rare performance by Snap to Zero. Plus the incomparable DJ Driller and panel compere David Penberthy. Plus some very special guests still to be announced.

This show will sell as fast as a Frenzal Rhomb drum beat, so jump on tickets now and re-live the music from back IN THE DAY.

First release tickets on sale now (unlikely for long) from MoshTix
